Looking For A Good Bass Compressor Pedal

Idk, but my old Black Finger is at my guitarists house. He doesn't use it, (yet) either, so maybe I can check that out next Sat. Interesting, 'cause otherwise, it's an awesome comp.

I was joking. I feel certain that no matter where in the world you live, there must be some way to buy from the internet a different compressor, one that would suit your tastes and cost less.

Well, Barge was delivered yesterday, so I hope I'll post some experience soon. Everything looks as good as I expected at the moment.

i use the alesis nano compressor more for an effect set really high than to control spikes on my musicman. it works wonders on my upright to controll rockabilly slaps and save speakers.

my amp has a very soft and growly compressor i used to use for warmth until i got the BBE otto stomp. like most of the posts i just set it and forget it. i don't notice it until i turn it off.

I couldn't find one that did exactly what I wanted, so I spent 6 months doing my research, and I built one.

what i mean is that it works smoothly and does not stick out or over compressed like when i run my nano compressor(on purpose) in comparison. i use the otto stomp to sand down my sound and use the nano compressor to chainsaw away big peaks of volume.

when its off...well...my sound is more open and capable of more dynamics. that could be good or bad depending on your style and what you want your sound to be.

i really really really like the sound of my bass thru my amp. the effects just take away from the tone, but add character. again depends on what you are looking for.

For those of you unfamiliar with Diamond Guitar Pedals, they are a Canadian company and make phenomenal pedals. I highly suggest you take a look at these before considering anything else. I truly feel that these pedals set the bar extremely high for anything else. To make things even better, they've just announced their first bass pedal... and of course, its a compressor

I have the standard Diamond comp and it performs flawlessly on bass. Active, passive, 5 string, its all good. The bass version is only going to have minor differences. Of course I will still want one! haha

I aklso just bought the Diamond Halo Chorus and its beyond belief!

I emailed Diamond regarding an eta on the bass compressor. They said it should be shipping to dealers in roughly 4 weeks.

To necro this thread a little I've just bought a black finger. I've not had time to really experiment with it yet but so far I've not noticed a lot of noise. I'll report back

FWIW I just got an email from Diamond--apparently my email to them a couple months ago went into the spam folder, which is why he hadn't gotten back to me previously. Anyway he'll be sending me one to test soon.
