Anyway, I find that I spend most of my practice time standing with a strap now and I want to find a new practice "seat". I'm thinking a barstool would suit me better to lessen the difference in how the instrument is held when practicing versus performing. If I sit in a normal armless chair with my bass my plucking hand is uncomfortably bent due to the height of the instrument, so I think a stool would be better but I've not tried that. I don't need it to be portable as I always stand with a strap while gigging... just want to save my back a bit in my practice space.
So... what have your found that you like. I know everybody is a different shape.
I'm shorter than I used to be (5'10"ish if I stand up straight) so nothing monstrously tall. I am a bit concerned that I might fall off a stool because sometimes when I practice scales I about fall asleep and catch myself almost teetering over. Maybe a barstool with a wrestling mat underneath
