Looking for a new, large combo

To each their own...the BC150 and 40 I picked up when I was setting up a Rock Band program for our students are two of the most disappointing amps I have used...if the V2 or V3 Rumbles were available here (at anywhere near a similar price) I would much prefer them.... My 2 cents

What was disappointing, besides the class A marketing hype?

We still use them...but, to me they perform rather tame for their rated power and I feel like the low mids in the 150 can't get high enough.
When I first got them I thought we had been given fakes or something, but I guess I just preferred the previous Blue Cube combos....(trying before wasn't an option here due to school location)
All in all they are fine....but meh to my ears

I wasn't trying to be funny, but if you're amused then I'm glad.

I'm old and jaded enough to know there will be a lot fashion conscious people selling their bright yellow and black amps when the next cool thing comes along.

I'm old and experienced and you're about ten years late. Markbass is ugly and expensive. No one would play them if they didn't work well. It's one thing if they aren't to your taste but at this point calling them a "fad" is laughable.

Ah, I can see that, tho I only have the 40. One thing I noticed is that it's audibly sensitive to low line voltage. :meh: I think the gain reduction that keeps the power amp from clipping is somewhat responsible for that. It does have good tonal range and decent volume for what it is.

The BC150 was a little meh. I always felt it was slightly off the right tone, a little too boomy when trying to be mellow, a little too tinny when trying to be bright. Never enough low mids either, it just seemed to make it boomy without punchiness.

I wouldn't call any of these amps particularly "Large." I've seen the Mesa Walkabouts, and seen their weight ratings, and I've decided that I don't want to schlep one of those around. Those who love them, though, will swear by them.

Okay I found a retailer that sells the Ampeg BA-115 near me. Quite expensive though, at £300. As I said I'm looking to push the boat out a little bit - would you guys personally recommend the Ampeg or the Rumble? I haven't used Ampeg gear before but I have heard great things about it.
Rumble fans will recommend the Rumble, Ampeg fans will recommend the BA115. Best thing is to try both and decide.

Also, regarding the Warwick, it's completely unfixable, and to be honest I wasn't a huge fan of the sound. It just never quite achieved the tone I wanted. Was always a little too boomy when trying to mellow the sound.

Ampeg. All day.

Classic bass tone. For hifi, I'd look for a Hartke HD115.
