10dB is a big cut. If the room needs booming GAAH taken out, by all means cut away, but you should be doing that on the main PA EQ.

I solved this problem by using a Sansamp RPM. I send the 'Sansamp" (colored) DI to the board and the colored 1/4" to my power amp. It works great because I rarely do any tone shaping except for a few db's in the mids. Works for me. I have on occasion used another bass amp to tweak the stage setup when I was using an unknown cabinet for a benefit job but otherwise, my main setup works great.
I realize that PA-style bass cabinets don't work for a lot of people, but for me (and quite a few others) they do.
It makes my life, and that of the mixer operator, much simpler when I'm able to send a post EQ signal to the mixer and it only requires minor tweaks.
Besides: I have more sound shaping capability in my amp than most club-level systems can dedicate to a single channel.
