And the thing that is amazing me: you got the same mini hi-fi system from Sony that I have had as my first one with a CD player back in 1992 !! only the added cd player was a little bit different, more compact yet. But the rest is the same ! This is matching perfectly with your 1990 bass !!!
I recently found it during an attic cleaning. Mine was ill: K7 player and On/Off button dead.

It appears this bass is either an FRB-45 or FRB-55 from 1998 or thereabouts. Information seems to be scarce online and pictures are inconsistently labeled. The things that stand out and differ from year to year are the headstock shape, headstock logo, angled string retainer, hardware color, shape of the neck end, and the knobs.
I love the Sony FH stereos! They sound so big and solid. This was handed down to me by my uncle. It sounds better than many other stereos on the market today. The CD player is problematic though.
