    has nice melodic sounding lines.
Who are other bassists that create fine melodic lines ?

Silly Love Songs is always the first song to pop into my head when someone says melodic basslines. I love McCartneys playing. Penny Lane is another of my favs. He's got lots of great stuff.

There's lotsa other guys too, I'm too lazy and tired to think right now though. :)

    Chuck Rainey (Steely Dan)
    Colin Moulding (XTC)
    James Jamerson (Motown)

  4. The verse line from Under Pressure, while only two notes, is one of the most hummable bass lines ever, and it's quite possibly more recognizable than the melody sung by Freddie M.

You're My Best Friend has good melodic movement as well, IMHO.

John Deacon came up with some pretty good stuff.

  5. The girl from the Magic Numbers plays some inspiringly simple yet naggingly hummable basslines, I think she's one to watch.
Don't like the band much tho. :bag:

  8. Eric Judy from Modest Mouse, they wrote many songs on the bass, and many of their songs center around a simple, melodic bassline

Gene Simmons (Kiss) on "Going Blind", "Deuce", "Strutter", "Sure know something"

Krist Novoselic (Nirvana) on "on a Plain", "Lounge act", "Lithium" from the "Nevermind" album and on "La vida" from his "Sweet 75" album Novoselic is a great melodic bassplayer.

Jeff Ament (Pearl Jam) on "Even flow"

On songs where the bass line drives the whole shebang it's almost always a strong melody.

Is She Really Going Out With Him By Joe Jackson Band (Graham Maby)
Peaches by The Stranglers (JJ Burnel)
