"Electronic jazz with LBT.
A new generation of jazz musicians from Munich is currently gaining international traction and embarking on new, genre-bending paths. The movement is spearheaded by LBT, a trio consisting of pianist Leo Betzl, bass player Maximilian Hirning and drummer Sebastian Wolfgruber. Perfectly attuned to one another, they lead the rhythm section in the Vincent Eberle Quintett and the Jazzrausch Bigband, the latter of which was recently invited to the Lincoln Center in New York. In the three years since the band’s formation at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, the three have already achieved several awards for their dramatic, exciting and experimental music; from the Steinway-Förderpreis and the Kurt Maas Award to the Hansjörg-Henzler-Jazzpreis."

Hello! While there`s lots of scandinavian stuff and some from finland too, I`ll have to add Mopo. It`s a ( mostly ) baritone sax / bass / drums trio that combines rough rock sound with their jazz backround. The bassist Eero Tikkanen is my beloved teacher and buddy, an animal of his own with sound to die for and pretty fierce physical approach to playing the DB.

Even worse than I thought they were. This is a really pathetic and awkward performance. I'll agree that Reid is the least terrible aspect, that could just be that his contribution is obscured by the hamfisted drumming. This shouldn't qualify as "new" to anyone, even if it does something for you.
Go Go Penguin, EST, Avishai Cohen, The Bad Plus, ... at risk of tooting my own band's horn though these other guys could play circles around me.. What's the Big Idea (most recent album is called Margin + Growth)
