The Guild Starfire 1 doesn't look like a P-bass, but it's got the pickup in the right place, buried in wood. I don't have a P-bass to compare it to, but it sounds great.

I was looking for a short scale P bass, but didn’t want another Mustang, as I’ve already got the Performer, and really got taken by the Schecter Banshee. It seems it’s now discontinued and I couldn’t find one anywhere.
Then I found an ex-demo online at Gear4Music. It was a bit pricy but I thought I may not get another chance, so I went for it.
It turned up yesterday protected by two battered boxes, the outer one with a big rip in it, completely unmarked, with no light scratches from being played in the shop either. I was delighted and it plays really well. I just had a couple of tweaks to make to pickup and string heights but the intonation was good.
I’m so glad I took the plunge. It’s a 2022 model and the Pelham blue is now green and here it is…
