Tempting... It has some of what I'm looking for.... might hold me over 'til I find the "real thing"...How about a Sterling Joe Dart III?
Roughly 6 times the price of the Retrovibe P30 accounting for currency conversion. However the P30 is made from assembled parts and not manufactured by the seller himself, whereas the Pony 51 is made from the ground up and not assembled from a collection of sourced parts. So I guess that is a big factor in pricing.Seriously, this is exactly what I have in mind.... but why is it 3000 Euros? I look at the specs and do NOT get it...

I have made a few parts basses. Never end up liking them quite as much….Roughly 6 times the price of the Retrovibe P30 accounting for currency conversion. Do you have the ability to put a short scale P51 together from parts yourself?
If so, perhaps you could ask member kodiakblair about it. I'm sure he wouldn't mind giving you some directions to get what you'd need. He provided me with some suggestions about this kind of project back in 2024. Basically pairing a Harley Benton PB50 second , that has only the pickup and control routing, with a Harley Benton PB20 short scale neck. I actially ended up getting a long scale neck for the body in the end. But it wasnt difficult to put it all together.
Fair enough.I have made a few parts basses. Never end up liking them quite as much….
That fooled me first glance, as the body shape is very close to Serek’s MW-2. Did you have the pickguard made?View attachment 7462285
Schecter Banshee Mini P. Delivered with a split pickup. new PG and in my case a Serek LZN-B90. The new PG was shaped to mimic a standar P. The original Schecter shape used a 51 style metal control plate. So your custom guard could be shaped more like a 51.
The Serek pickup is clear and punchy. Even though it is a stacked humbucker it doesn't suffer from aany mud'bucker influence at all.

LOVE the color and the tort. I love those pickups too (I have 3 of them)!Yes. Ben Bonham, BonhamDesign in Hood River, OR did the work. He has a good eye.
This bass came to me with some unexpected 'features'. In an effort to replace the side jack in favor of Reverend Watt style top jack...someone ran a hole saw through the body. They just screwed a Les Paul switch cover to the surface of the back. Why they didn't reverse spin a Forstner bit against the front side to break the finish cleanly and then forward to create a cavity for the jack ? Ben totally cleaned up that mess. This is now the most expensive Banshee on the planet. Not as much as an MW or MW2 though. It came out great.and it is preventing me from just HAVING to add a fourth Serek as I no longer need a Grand or an MW to have that pickup config. Maybe it was the cheap way out afterall
Where can I get one of those? …shirts that is@TomB here was the first itteration. Fralin split pockup made fpr Mike Lull's 62/64 P style. Sonically it was no slouch but the Serek pickup has a similar 'more of everything' sound as you know. More like DarkStar / BiSonic than anything else I think.
