Looking for two 1x12 cabs. Any suggestions?

A Glasstone Lil G cab should easily work for what the OP described but its more of an all around cab than a Gospel" one. There are happy owners who don't play gospel.

I play more finger style and in a variety of genres, it kills for that TOO.

The Faital Pro twelves handle the mids fine and while you can dial in sizzle you aren't stuck with it. That's not how they're voiced. If they were I doubt the folks use them for other instruments like uprights, keys and guitar or recorded music would dig them too. They sound accurate AND take EQ well.

So far most have only needed one 212 Lil G to cover what usually takes a pair of 1-12's to do, all in a box the size of a 1-12.

I feel like we are living in The Golden Age of 1x12's. There are so many great choices out there. As with most things, what choice is going to work the best for you is dependent upon a variety of factors, including your related gear, your playing style, the music style you will be playing, the venues/environments in which you will be playing, your budget, and above all, your personal preferences. You've already given us some insight (gospel), which is definitely helpful.

Depending on the remaining factors, some of the great choices which might work for you would include (in alphabetical order):

Acme Full Range
AudioKinesis TC112 (only need one, probably)
Baer ML-112
Bergantino AE112
Bergantino CN112
Bergantino HD112
fEARful 12/6
fEARless 112
GK Neo112-II
Mesa/Boogie PH112

Of these, some are a little more "rock voiced" (like the Baer or Mesa/Boogie), but none of the above cabs are so voiced that you can't use them on a variety of styles with a little EQ.

However, considering that "gospel" component, I'm going to join Ken in recommending the GK Neo112-II as at least a good starting point. The fact that it's the cheapest of the bunch doesn't hurt, either!

I owned an Epifani DIST 112. I too was excited about the variable impedance feature.

But the cab didn't cut it for me. I didn't like the tone it also did not handle the low B well at any real volume.

I much prefer the tone of the Berg AE112 and the output of the Baer ML112.

I play gospel and I just picked up a Genz Benz Focus 112 and I am really impressed. I took it to practice and the keyboard player said he could feel the bass across the room. Ran it with a GK MB200. At $349 these cabs are a steal and I will be picking up another. Also have owned Epifani PS112's and Aguilar GS112's. All good cabs for the genre. Have yet to try the GK's but if Kjung and Bowlus recommend them then you know it is a winner.

Oooh, good call on the Genz-Benz Focus 112. I was really impressed with those cabs, as well. I just hope Fender keeps them around...

I can't remember where (I'm on the road all the time) but in a church I visited last fall the bass came through really nice and had good lows, all the way out about 25 rows. I went up to inquire and it was the Glasstone. Size of a 1x12 but had the second pointing down (I think). It did sound good, the bassist had used it only a few weeks but he had the sound pretty well set. I liked it. He was using a 10-15 yr old Fortress One 5 with flats if I remember right.

No, not a bad choice, at all. The DB112 is a very good cab, for sure. I should have put it on my list. Perhaps a bit more "rock-voiced," but - like the others I listed - pretty flexible.

+1 Close to my favorite 112 of all time soundwise. My recommendation of the GKNeo112's was more based on the inherent tone that the OP seemed to be going for. While pretty much any rig or cab can be used for anything, that particular GK rig really does the 'snap and pop' of a modern Gospel type tone VERY well, and VERY VERY well for the money.

If the OP played a P Bass or was looking for a Bob Glaub sort of thing or a 60's J sort of match-up, those DB112's are just warm and fat sounding. I still can't stop thinking about playing that Fender Custom Shop Pino P bass through the TH500/DB112 rig at a music store. I left with the TH500, I almost left with the Pino, and if the DB112 was 10 pounds lighter, I would have left with those too (actually, I wouldn't have sold the two I had).

So what you're saying is that I need a DB112 stack for my P-bass, and a GK Neo stack for my J-bass. My wallet thanks you. ;)

:p I do love the DB's with just about anything. 60's J, P Bass.. forget about it... perfect! No matter what was on the floor at my house during all those dozens of GTG's we had back in Detroit, the DB112 stack with the Thunderfunk550b always either 'won', or got the most 'THAT is what I'm talking about' comments from the gang.

I'm kinda liking the idea of a 2 12/6, or maybe a 12/6/1, 12/6 setup. Price is an issue however if I need to save more to get a nice cab that's cool too. Weight is something to keep in mind too.

I live in an apartment, I play through the house at church w/ a RBI Sansamp preamp (rackmount) No cab or amp. there is a sub that I don't care much for the sound of.

Basically need a rig for when I play out at other churches (that don't have a bass player) or out shedding.

Add an IPR 1600 and a fEARless 112 or alphalite 12/6/1 to your RBI, and you will have more than enough volume for a church gig.

The cheapest single cab I'd recommend is a 12/6 with the Alphalite mid driver...great little cab. For a little more the F112 is tough to beat for a versatile, great sounding cab. You may be shocked to find how much use you can get out of just one :)

Not to cut out Dukeorock or any other builder, but if you can manage it: building a 12/6 or 12/6/1 yourself is GREAT bang for the buck.
