Looking gor a "GOOD" Combo!

Hey All!

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a "good" combo bass amp? I've been searching, researching, playin' different ones, and I just can't come to a decision. I guess I should point out my emphasis on a "combo". Well, #1 and most importantly, I've had back surgery and can't do too much heavy lifting. #2, I play at 2 churches, and don't feel too comfortable leaving my equipment, so I take everything back and forth. I've considered the Markbass 210 combo(weighs about 45 lbs), the GK 700RBII 2x10(since it has retractable casters & handle). I have a Carvin PB-100 15(which I use often with the help of a mini hand truck). But of course, it's limited wattage and headroom wise. I'd prefer a 2x10, but if there's a "good" 15 or even a 12 out there I'd love to hear any comments!

IMO, a separate head and cabinet is easier to carry than a combo. You can make 2 trips. 1 with your bass and head, and 1 with your cab. (Unless you have a pedal board or other additional equip.)

I have a 210 avatar and carry my eden wt600 in one hand my bass in a gigbag on my back and my cab in the other hand all in 1 trip. If I had a smaller head like a Little Mark 2 or a wt260, my rig would be very easy to carry.

I'm gonna take back what I said about combos. Especially the mark bass ones. They come between 41-47lbs for the 115 combos, 44 for the 210, and 30-40lbs for the 112!! Most of these are lighter than my avatar 210 with neo speakers, and that's just my cab.

All of the mark bass combos I mentioned use the Little Mark 2 for the head.

Just got a Markbass Mini CMD 121P. 29 lbs and sounds phenomenal. This will be replacing my Eden WT 400 and my Eden 410XLT. Waiting for the Markbass Mini Traveler 121P extension cabinet to come out and that will complete my rig.

I've had a great experience with my Markbass CMD102P (the 210). I regularly transport it in my smallish car and up two narrow flights of steps to my band's practice space. I like the placement of the handles, too.

And then there's the sound. Wow.

The Markbass Jeff Berlin 1x15 (no tweeter) is very very nice. Round, loud, and feels great. Around $1000. Not a fan of the smaller markbass cabs, seem to run out of gas.

Mesa Fathom combo. Not light, but expensive. Sounds very nice as well. Around $1400.

Aguilar combos sound great. The AG500 SC 1x12 is $950, the AG500 SC 2x12 is $1000 and the AG500 2x12 is 1300. THe 1x12 is 60lbs, 2x12 are around 95.

Have yet to hear the Genz Benz shuttle combo, but played the 6.0 head into nexo 2x10. Sounded great.

I am interested in the GenzBenz 6.0 12T, the Markbass Jeff Berlin, maybe the aguilar, as I really like some of the sounds you can get out of the AG500 amp.

As an owner of a warwick CCL combo I can confirm that although built in wheels and retractable cart handle is useful, it doesn't help when you've got to take it up and down stair, hell, even over a small doorway threshold. For some trips it less hassle to pick the damn thing up and be done with it.

I now use a MB LMII head and matching traveller 1x12" cab, it's a lot easier to manage. I can carry the cab in one hand, which means I can see where I'm putting my feet when I'm clambering up a dark, wet, rickety fire escape at the back of a venue.

yep, these Walkabout 12" combos are 47lbs and have an optional built in cart deal that makes them a snap to move around. They sound just great too, and have wonderful DI's for FOH. Plug in an extension cab, run it at 2ohms, and you can get ~500w out of it too. Very nice.
