A bigger company will come through and buy out the debt. Dean doesn’t have a lot of top sellers right now clearly, but I don’t think the industry at large will let the brand die completely.

Other than the neon green firewood basses Dean has collecting dust in every Guitar Center, do they have anything else for bass players?

They make one of the best acoustic basses...only one I'd spend my money on...and it's more versatile than quite a few solid-body basses I won't bother mentioning.

For some reason, I've always been somewhat fond of that classic baby blue burst they've offered since the beginning of time.

They also made some pretty cool electric upright basses if anybody remembers the Pace.

I picked up one of those neon green basses out of amusement while at a GC once and to my surprise it played like greased lightning and sounded...like a P-bass. Definitely sounded different than I thought it would, but didn’t seem like firewood so much as just a fryer of eyeballs.

My Dean “Demonator Metalman” is also a bass that sounds and feels good to play despite looking like a medieval siege weapon. From what I can tell they make weird but functional stuff.

The US custom shop is (was?) reported to be quite reasonable. They've got some cool USA ML stuff currently and I agree their electric upright was/is cool especially for the cost.
