I'll admit I was pleasantly suprised, I didn't expect such nice grain on a maple freboard. My others are very, very plain by comparison.

BTW - Love that maple fretboard!
I fell in lust with maple FB's ever since I bought my '78 'Ray in '84 - just seems "right" to me. Thought about a BEM Diamondwood board for my Roscoe fretless, but stuck with the black.
No regrets.

I'm a big fan of maple myself, which is odd, since the vast majority of my axes don't have it.
Oh, and the black diamondwood is perfect on your Roscoe, excellent choice!

As I just posted on Ryan's FB page, I'm having major doubts about a pickguard....

Nice!!! Wow, that's gorgeous.
The pickguard would tie the headstock into the body a little bit visually, but it would also cover up some of that beautiful wood... I don't envy you having to make that decision!

That's exactly what I'm thinking, It'd tie it all together beautifully, but dang, that top is way too freaking hot!
