Loretta Lynn, RIP

I know Country doesn't get a ton of love on here, but dang...

Outlived my mom.

I always knew LL was special but as a swamp yankee New Englander I never gave her too close a listen until a month ago the great Brendan Hogan played "Louisiana Woman/Mississippi Man" (it was Conway Twitty's birthday) on Boston's WUMB. Transformative.

Back in the early 80's I "didn't like" country music.
One night I was out bar hopping with my guitar teacher and he said let's go into this place. I said, it's a country bar, I don't....LET'S JUST GO IN!!!
We sat down, ordered a beer and in a few minutes the band started playing. We were both blown away - the guitar player was amazing and the whole band sounded great.
Good music is just that, be it country, R&R, R&B, jazz, classical, etc.
R.I.P Loretta Lynn - you made more than your mark!
