R.I.P. Miss Loretta Lynn, what a great songwriter and singer, and by all accounts a fine human being!
I remember the first time I heard "The Pill" and "Don't Come Home" I thought - "A woman from where did this in what year? Daaayyyummmm! All right!"
The studio version of "One's on the Way" is just a perfect recording. Bouncy drum and bass groove, with some of my favorite steel and lead guitar playing ever - such sweet riffs and interplay!

Sorry to hear that. I'm not a big country fan at all, but she was one of a kind and was HUGE in C&W music. From very humble beginnings as a coal-miners daughter to one of the female vocalists who defined country music, she will be missed.
A true Country soul. Thank-you Loretta for your music and your wonderful voice. You will always be remembered.
Not a big country fan here either. But there used to be this show I watched on AXS TV called "the big interview" with Dan Rather speaking to many famous artists. I remember thinking that as he spoke to her she just seemed to be down to earth about her life and her fame, a class act.

When I was a kid I had adult extended family who would get axle wrapped over some of her work. The stuff above figured prominently in that outlook. Fortunately my dad held no such notions, so Loretta Lynn was frequently in rotation when music was played at home. Sorry to see her gone.
