losing volume when slapping?

It shouldn't be the bass then. Like I said earlier, just try to play with a lighter touch toward the bridge while playing fingerstyle. Also, I find that it helps to slap away from the fretboard just a touch instead of right on top of the last frets. That gives a bit more "thump" and volume.

Thanks man Ill try playing towards teh bridge more. I dont slap on the last frets either I tend to hit the string right blow the heel of the neck.
 
It doesn't matter what version you have, you are doing all sorts of weird stuff to your tone. Just work from everything flat (noon) and try to do as little tweaking as you can.

Again I really think you should take the time to read the manual.

When I first got the head I figured that noon would be 0. But I really like how it sounded when I adjusted from the very bottom. Having the bass and treble at noon was a bit too much. Right now Im getting killer tone with both slap and fingerstyle so im hesitant to change it but ill give it a try if it boosts the slap volume.

Also I have the old version, but the new version has 0-10 with 0 marked at about 7pm

Thanks man ill give it a try starting from noon and see what happens. And I suppose reading the manual wouldn't hurt :D
