Lost in Space: 2018 Netflix Reboot

I tried to watch the first episode. Really. Unfortunately I failed to finish it. I get this is supposed to be family friendly. Maybe it is. But for me as a semi-adult, the writing, directing, and acting are sub-par and borderline amateurish.

The CG June Lockhart at the beginning was done well and a nice touch. But not nearly enough.

Anyone else trying it? Am I an outlier case?

CBS took the idea straight out of Gene Roddenberry's mouth, for the original.
They called him in for a big meeting, a pitch. In that meeting they grilled him about every aspect of how he would accomplish each part of the show.
Soon after they started Lost in Space.

I'm in episode 2 at the moment - I'm diggin' it so far. And yah, it's not porn like most all of non-OTA shows (and many of the OTA shows these days).

I plan on starting tomorrow. So far the critics don't like it, which means I'll probably enjoy it.

I'm 20 minutes in epi one. I'm crushed by the chick freezing in the water (which is impossible) so I've stopped there. But I WILL watch it. Right now I'm more stressed about BB, but that is what it is.

Started watching it yesterday with my 7 year old son. His mind is blown by the robot. Every time the robot comes on screen my kid has an ear to ear smile. I watch his face more than the show. That's worth price of admission for me.

The original was a fun show for kids of that era. Lol.

I might resume watching some more of the reboot just so I can say I gave it a fair chance.

Ok, 2 episodes down and I'm liking it a lot so far.
It looks great and seems like it will have a good story.
Only actor I recognise is Molly Parker, thought she was excellent in House Of Cards.

I vaguely remember watching some of the original series on a re-run but not enough to have an opinion on it...so I'll just treat this as a whole new thing.

Like most shows now that claim to be Science Fiction it is Science Fantasy.

I had to get over my pedantic hangups regarding entrainment.

It got in the way of everything, nothing was enjoyable.

My 6year old daughter will watch it with me and talk with me about it after. I'm happy with that.

I grew up watching the original. The robot was the best.
I'll check out the new version. It's always hard to top childhood memories.

I started watching this a couple of day ago, and I have to say I was so lost during the first episode that I almost stopped watching it. A few more episodes later I'm still trying to figure out how they plan to bring it back to something that even resembles the original series or the movie. It was - Family - Spaceship - Robot - Evil Doctor - Lost... Now I can't even figure out who is who...

If someone grew up watching the original, why would they want the new one to be just like it? I would think the differences would make it more palpable to the fans of the old one. Otherwise it's little more than a scene by scene reshoot.

I'm on episode 4 right now and it seems like it has more of a The 100 vibe then anything else. My only bone to pick so far is the medical doctor who is supposed to be 18 but looks 14. They should have made her 21 and cast someone who looks 21. Not that the actress is doing a bad job.

So 5 in and it's interesting. Parker Posey slays Dr. Smith. She always was twisted.
