Well, my beautiful bride of almost 49 years passed away early yesterday evening. She was diagnosed with bone cancer 3 1/2 weeks ago. Turns out she also had lung cancer as well as a brain tumor.
The past 3 weeks have been a jumble of tests, doctor appts., and ultimately home hospice care. Her deterioration was cruel and rapid. The bone cancer was throughout her body, and excruciatingly painful. Even dosed up with morphine didn't alleviate her pain. Watching her suffer was brutal.
My adult children and one of Patty's sisters have been tremendous during this trying time. We are heartbroken over losing her, but joyful in the knowledge that she has gone home to her Lord and savior for eternity.
Here's a pic of Patty in 1973 at her surprise bridal shower. The second pic was taken about a month ago before everything came crashing down. The 3rd one is also from 1973 before we got married. This December we would have been married for 49 years.
