Lost the rhythm

I've noticed this while watching videos of famous musicians. Hendrix's bass player Noel Redding in their early years videos looks much like a turkey bobbing his head back and forth. Well, he's a skinny guy with a long neck. Yes, it's kind of funny .... but .... hey, if it works.

I kind of bob up and down on my heels with the beat. (I think so, anyway .... that's not something I'm really paying that much attention to. It just kind of happens naturally).
For real. There's something about the pacing of body movements that regulates time really well. And that you don't really think about it is probably part of why it works. It happens naturally because there's a natural pacing to movements. If you're bobbing on your heels too fast or too slow you'll probably feel off balance and out of sorts. If you're going up you gotta come back down at some point. Staying up or down for too long feels wrong. And it feels every few bpm have different movements that are suited to that tempo. Big flowing body movements don't work for faster tempos and rapid head nodding doesn't work for slow tempos. They're self-regulating movements, aka music is magic. :D
