Man, I'm starting to like my single coils better than the slimbucker's. They just cut through everything. Played simple, at church today, and they just held it down so nice.

I know what you mean. I played a pop gig yesterday. The band had a bunch going on in the mix - keys, a bunch of sequencer tracks, a guitarist with some delay and a live drummer playing off the click. In the end, I just played my LEJ 5er clean through a Tecamp and Glock 2x12. The sound was unbelievable. While I love my tube preamp pedals and a bit of overdrive, it reminded me of how good the the LEJ with single coils sounds out of the box. Just full and warm and cutting through perfectly. It seems a shame that my job was to play about 4 root notes in different orders for the set :D

I played through Tecamp and Schroeder 1212BMF.

Aaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh! Stop it. The tension is killing me. I have been patient, put my order in 2 months ago and am starting to get antsy. Doesn't help that I am in in New York at the moment, seeing all these amazing musicians and just wanting to have my LEJ here with me so I can play it.

Tell me more!!! Brian's in the process of replacing the neck broken by FedEx and we've been talking about single coils... I love the the slimbuckers and have recently been loving single coil noiseless Nordy's....

Do you miss the "big" sound of the double stacks???


PS: ANYONE ELSE, FEEL FREE TO CHIME IN???!!!

I have both PUPS in basses. The first time I had the singles I didn't care for them. But now, I love them. I just like having a variety. I play more gospel and Hip-Hop. The slims are great for both, but sometimes you want to change the flavor up a lil bit. The vintage vibe is good, see Raphael Saddiq. The one LEJ with slim's, thinking about changing it back to PJ setup.

Oh no! Just using Rahael vintage vibe as a reference. But, our former church drummer is playing for him.

I really don't feel the benavente's. Great feel, but just could never find my tone.

I've recently had the SC's put in my Benevente. Love the tone; the hum not so much. I notice the control cavity has no shielding. Haven't checked the pickup cavities.

Any one else missing shielding or have done anything to address the hum?

Man, I was at lowend today and brian received a LEJ with natural quilt top and matching quilt top headstock. Yeah, I'm jealous!!! Tony did his thang with the paint job too.

I have a 24 fret 4 on order, mahogany body, birdseye board with blocks and binding, small frets, traditional J bass knobs, and pearloid guard in this color with a matching headstock:

I know it's close...it's at the painter, but I am seriously getting anxious! Looking forward to seeing it in person! I have an LEJ 4 that plays and sounds KILLING, but I'm not hot on the Bluish-Sherwood Green color...thinking about getting it re-painted in either Fiesta Red, Munjibunga/Lakland Cadillac pink, or some other crazy vintage color. In the meantime, I wait. And wait. And wait. But....good basses come to those who wait!

That is a REALLY nice looking J! What is that. Sweet!

KJung that bass is a Brooklyn Bass. They are made in Japan, if I am correct. Ken Smith supplied the wood...no KSD relation. Brian also has a rosewood/vintage gold color also. I think it's the color of your LM5.

jacochops: the cadillac pink will be killer! I'm really starting to feel the vintage colors.

Cool. I couldn't read the headstock, but now remember them on Brian's site. Nice looking instrument... nice updated J look!

I couldn't either- at first I swore it said "Buffy" as in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was obviously wrong, but man, whoever designed the Brooklyn logo was probably a fan- the script is really similar
