Hey Brian what are PU switching combos on this one and how is it done? I had been thinking about asking if something like this could be done with a set SC's & DC slimbuckers with a switch to toggle between the 2 configs.

Hey JZ,

The walnut beast is mine. Brian was pretty flexible on what he could do with electronics options but I ultimately decided to just have two stacked volumes for the 4 pickups. My thinking was that I could literally blend volumes to suit whatever combination I felt I needed. I considered switching too but the options are pretty endless with straight volume knobs. When you factor in that I can switch between active/passive, add in tone control and there is the Treble/Bass, this will be a seriously versatile bass I think.

I'll report back when it arrives. Feel free to fire away with any questions about how it is working out.

Thx Mat, sounds good, I'd love to hear about it once you get it and congrats on a great looking bass. I talked to Brian about it yesterday and He said it could done it's just a matter of dealing with the PU placement. By the way are your PU's HB"s or SC's?

I'm a huge single coils fan. My first two LEJs have them and I can't bring myself to change to try out the buckers. I had a simple thought process here - If two SCs sound amazing, lets give 4 a try. More is more :D

Speaking of Single Coils...

I had Brian switch the SlimBuckers out for Single Coils and the difference is minor to my ear... A bit more dirty on the distortion end. Not as quiet. I prefer the SlimBuckers.... IJS :cool:

Mine is in the mail fellas. Lets hope she makes it to irAQ safe and sound. The wife got me a hardcase this time.
BTW, Diglo. That old silver LEJ 5er of ours is now lake placid blue complements of fed ex playing football with it a few months ago :)
I'll post pics when I get a chance

Purchase my first LEJ in Orlando this weekend. Now I know what all the fuss is about. Great tight tone. Loud gig this weekend and the bass was awsome. I will post pics later. It's a 4 clasic with quilted maple cap in midnight blue. Pretty sweet. Thanks for all the post on these basses. That's what convenced me to buy one finally. Brian is very cool to deal with.

Hey Bill,

Congrats on the purchase. I actually think LEJs really come to life in gigs. You always know you have a well built bass just by plugging in and messing around at any volume. But in a live mix, with some volume behind it, some basses tend start to lack something. I've found that on basses way more expensive than these. It's kind of cool that LEJs do the reverse and just seem to get better.

+100!!!

I had a Tobias with Bart pups and pre.... and it would get lost.... The LEJ always punches and is extremely versatile whether I'm playing RnB Gospel or 1/8th note rock... Love it!

Not to hurt anyone's feelings, but I feel the same way about just about any neck through bass equipped with Bart's and especially the Bart pre. It is just too smooth and polite and lacks upper midrange attitude to cut through. Although Tobias is famous for the slap tone, I think the LEJ has the BEST slap tone I have ever heard, even better than my Sadowsky.
