@caesarbass:
Hi Steve, just been listening to your clips again. I know you also have an Ash/Maple LEJ. In what situations do you use that in preference to the Alder/Rosewood?

BTW, what is the name of that purple colour?

The color on the purple bass is called "burgandy mist," I do believe.
I actually think my purple bass is one of the most amazing, warmest, fattest, sounding basses I've ever played!! It definitely has some mojo. It also plays like butter!! The Black LEJ is actually alder/maple, and it has alot more sizzle, definitely more 70's-ish. The purple bass is more 60's-ish. Again, this is all very subjective, but at least that's how I hear my basses.
Hope this helps!!
Steve

Is it really burgundy mist, though? I thought that colour was a bit lighter and more pink. Yours looks different to Dan Lutz's Burgundy Mist on youtube.

BTW, looks great with Tort.

Thanks Lif! The color is so hard to photograph. I think my bass had a lighter shade to it than Dans. I should just call it purple! Haha!! It also deponds on lighting and whether I use a flash or not. Check out the pics on the sold section of brians site. It's on the second page.
I am pretty stoked with the new pickguard!!
Thanks!!

Ah, okay! I see it now. Striking how different the colour is in different lights. Does it look more purple to you in real life or does it change?

BTW my LEJ5 (Dakota red/Ash/Maple) will be ready mid-Feb. I'm excited.

You are going to LOVE your LEJ!! I really couldn't live without either one!! HAHA!! The color really does seem to change depending on the lighting...but it's definitely a "lighter"shade of purple...possibly a burgundy "haze!" Haha!! I googled some vintage burgundy mist Fenders and, to me, it's closest to the vintage "burgundy mist." Then again...I'm getting older and my color id may be waning...:D
You will have to post pics and soundclips when you get your bass!! Congrats!!
P.S. I like mine better too!!! Haha!!
