I have been hoping somebody would do a 33" 4-string LEJ, very cool.

I finally received my bass last night. I'll wait for the honeymoon period to wear off before making any concrete statements or reviews, but initial impressions are that LEJ's must be the best bang-for-buck custom bass out there. Fit and finish is immaculate, the neck is very, VERY comfortable in my hands, the balance is damn near perfect and the preamp is very flexible and straightforward to use. I'm glad I ordered this thing - it's a super Jazz bass in every sense. I just don't believe how little they cost relative to other custom made basses AND the fact that Brian and Chris will accomodate nearly any request a purchaser has in mind. That's something that a lot of other luthiers don't cater for...

Last weekend I got a chance to stop by the shop and tried out a couple LET's and a couple LEJ's. There is a killer 8 string LET that was a blast to play. I wish I took a pic of it, maybe Brian could post one, if there wasn't up here already.

I really have my eye on this one:

I've been eying that guy for a while too! Surprised its been there so long.

Glad you like it! I am DYING for my LEPJ to be done. I also really don't want to sell my pink LEJ, but alas I just can't afford to keep it right now. I'm sure i'll snag another in the future though. My LEPJ will hold me over.

Congrats ras1983! Which one did you get. @j-raj, it was cool talking to you last week. Hope the Benavente is to your liking now. lol I'm missing my maple board/ quilt top sunburst. Ummmm, my mind is turning. LOL

I love just about everything about my instrument, I felt totally comfortable on it from the moment I received it. I think the best thing about LEJ's is Brian Barret and his customer service. I live in Australia, would often send him emails that he would have received around midnight in the USA, and he'd respond almost immediately! He's just a class act and his instruments reflect his professionalism, his passion and his knowledge of electric basses.

I think the thing I like most is that LEJ is still a little bit of an underground brand. There are lots of Sadowsky's, Foderas, Lull's etc out there, but I don't see many LEJ's in Australia. I'm a contrarian by nature and the LEJ has definitely catered for that, lol.

It was great meeting you and chatting for a while. The mods that Brian did to the electronics are awesome. Having 2 tones and 2 volumes makes for a panoply of different tones. In series it has a very aggressive, yet beefier tone. Also increases the volume the a bit.

On our ride back to Lexington, Amy asked me why I don't have an LEJ yet. Guess that is a greenlight to spec one out and get it in the mix... not sure if I'm looking to do a 6 or 7 string. Hmmm.

Hey I just want to reiterate what pretty much everyone else in this thread has said regarding Brain's customer service. It's very seldom that you meet a businessman, of any type, that cares more about the customer than they do the transaction itself. It's refreshing, to say the least.

I don't have my bass yet, and due to some misfortune, I won't be able to play it immediately after it arrives. However, if the instrument is half as good as Brain's service has been, it will exceed all my expectations. If you're looking for anything bass related, and you're having trouble finding it, I would strongly recommend you give him a call.
