Low/Mid gain drive that plays nice with Genzler Magellan

Either a standard Fairfields Barbershop or the always-on Modele B. Sounds like tube pre pushing a tube power amp which is the SVT vibe. The Modele B meets your size requirements.

Maybe the vintage deluxe by Darkglass would be it for you. There are so many options for dirt it's mind numbing but those seem to be a hit in the bass community. I like the microtubes X personally but it might be too aggressive for what you're trying to do. A simple but nice dirt sound is the mxr m81. I used it more for the preamp than the drive but I like the sound of the drive. It's very much a useable tone. And the pedal is pretty small too.

I haven't come across a dirt pedal that doesn't work with the Magellan, it's such an open and transparent pre. The SVT-type ODs are not really my thing, so that's probably the only kind I haven't tried. The Modèle B is great, I can never keep it off my board for long, and it takes up almost no space. It's "amp-like", to be sure, but I'm not sure it's SVT-like. Perhaps I'm wrong, though, and I really do like SVTs after all :).
