Lowering bass pickup

Is it dangerous to lower the pickup alot on the E-A strings? I like mine very low. Im using a fender P bass.

I have my jazz bass pickups almost as low as they will go with no problems. Just crank up the gain and it should sound fine

Thank you! How low is yours? I lowered it until it became difficult to turn. That must be the end point.

How on earth could turning a few screws be dangerous?
I suppose the screwdriver could slip and stab you or something?
I can't imagine that you would have any issues.

Yes overly low pups send out signals to the forest elves and they sent gremlins to run all over your bass trying to pull the strings closer to the pups so theyll sound better. Grumpy dark elves sometimes bite at the fingers of the person who lowered the pups so low while said person tries to pluck the strings to. But the worse is if they plant a tree under the pickup to push it back up. As these trees tend to grow to three foot length overnight. Which of course causes havoc with said bass.

But no, really, its not dangerous to lower pups overmuch. Just tends to make the basses voice a bit weak sounding in most cases.

no. theres foam under the pickup, so you are just pushing down the foam when screwing. the force is not against the pickup so no damage..

When lowering a pickup, I suggests pressing down on the pickup while turning the screws. That way you won't chance stripping the screw hole out.
