Luthiers With Inventory

I'm considering the purchase of a nice 5er. I've checked around all the usual sites. Does anyone know of any custom builders with something in stock??
I know Bud LeCompte has two listed but I'd like some others to consider

I also keep an eye on the Sadowsky site.

I don't have the patience to wait for a custom build

Its hit-or-miss; you'll just have to ask around. Some builders will craft an "off the shelf" model while doing a round of custom orders. I bought my first Cliff Bordwell like that. Of course, I had no choice re: custom options but I was very pleased, nonetheless.

As the current owner of the aforementioned bass, I can tell you that this is, indeed, not a bad way to go.

Very good call. Dan always has some wonderful instruments in stock that you don't see very often. I got to play the 5 string Ristola with the Myrtlewood top before it was shipped to Dan. For me it was a perfect bass through and through. It was a really special bass indeed.

That maple board one has me seriously tempted. It looks like the perfect Stingray-killer that I want. Have you played this particular style before?
