LYRICS! DROP EM HERE!

Rigtio, new verse...

The Mask Reveals the Man
As you face the mirror,
What would you see?
Reflections of yourself,
Or an image of me?

When you break the façade,
What would we be?
Recollections of the past,
Or a future yet unseen?

If I am the truth,
And you are the lie,
What is it worth,
To learn to fly?

If you are my life,
And I am your death,
Should we yet take,
Another breath?

Where will we be?
Are we truly free?
I will do all I can,
But the mask reveals the man.

I'm not too sure what this is about, but as far as I can tell it's about the duality of the way we deal with one another, in particular myself and my muse for the depressing song...

Hey! I have a new song! Again, Edhunter, you might not find it's overall message applicable to your life, but as you have always provided helpful and interesting input, I hope that you'll read it (especially since you seem to be the only one left besides myself on this thread...) Oh, and my birthday was yesterday, by the way. I had a pretty awesome time.

LONG RACE:

VERSE 1:
Here you are, against the wind, just as it’s meant to be.
We weren’t told to take it slowly, or that it would be easy.
The overarching message of the hope that we have found.
Remember this, the faith that keeps your feet on solid ground.

CHORUS:
Walking the knife blade,
Wire between two towers.
I pray you’re wisdom flowers,
In your opponents shade.

Bravest face,
In the shadow of society,
A long race,
In the presence of humanity.

BRIDGE:
You create,
The image you portray,
He relates,
In both peace and disarray.

Represent,
the king you chose to serve.
Don’t resent,
When life throws you a curve.

Resonate,
The horns’ mighty sound,
Radiate,
The grace the holds you found.

*VERSE*

*CHORUS*

ENDING:

Repeat ending of chorus with the bridge, then;
Recreate,
Radiate,
Resonate,
Relate.
It’s a long race.

I think it's pretty good. I think I probably had some Yes going in my subconscious when I wrote it. Feedback please. Thanks! :bassist:

The meaning is towards a Christian, who is just kind of finding that his faith will be challenged by life, and saying (from another, older Christian) not to give up, to keep the faith, and that he's being prayed for in the face of all the doubts and trials he'll have. The "opponent" is the discouragement that we sometimes feel when we seem to lose our way.

Oddly enough, it started as a kind of sympathetic song about how the president of the U.S. faces such scrutiny, receives the blame for everything, and has to balance his position, his family, his identity, all while trying to be a great leader and avoiding becoming an empirical, power hungry monster. It just wasn't coming out, so I started writing other versions of the words I had, and began again, and this song came out of the process.

And yeah, the rhythm is tricky. the Yes influence is also proposing some bass ideas as well, which will hopefully work out well. I really need help finding a studio, so my band can finally get our songs recorded! It's just very hard to find a studio willing to take a 3 piece Progressive/Alternative Christian Rock band over the latest contemporary worship group or the newest, greatest rapper (undoubtedly a copy of an already established one, who probably changed his name to Lil something or dropped their last name...)

We usually do Interludes that are light humored:

"All the Way"

"Push pause repeat..I feel your soul callin' me
..you
need some love I see, let me be your pharmacy
..I
can fill your persricption but, it might lead to addiction
..though
rain storms, sun storms, I'm only cumin' when it's nice and warm
let's follow love's true form
and find your gold pot, under your rainbowwwwwwww..."

"To Funky"

"Listen girl I got a bad attitude, I need you wet draws off in the room
I eat p***** like a rat eats cheese, I eat p***** like carrots and peas
I know your fine but your easy to please, I got you late to work cause your cleanin' your knees, I got you runnin' anytime I sneeze, do I need a tissue? No but you can wipe these

A$$ so big they you can't walk strait, failed 2 DUI tests to date, now stop playin' girl and put on that cape...

I just wrote a prog-rock epic. It's called Alchemy. Probably the longest song I've ever written (4 pages). I think it's some of my best writing too.
I won't post it in the thread in case it might offend people, as it is a sort of modern parable about people who mix different religions, mysticisms, and new age spirituality and superstitions because they don't want to accept the harder aspects of any one faith, and refuse to take a stand on any one system of beliefs. but (I guess I'm just talking to EdHunter here), PM me if you want to read it.

Sounsd pretty cool. We talking über-trippy stuff? If so, I'd be very interested in checking that out...

Not really trippy, but very metaphorical, and I'd say some of my best lyrical work. It's currently in it's last draft. I just had to add some things, to make the message a bit clearer. Which the message is: If you stand for EVERYTHING then you really STAND for nothing. Just like mixing elements and metals would never be able to give an alchemist eternal life or a pot of gold, trying to mix religions and and different spiritualities into a cosmic cocktail because some elements of each respective faith are not pleasent won't really ever get you anywhere, and will ultimately just lead to your own confusion.

I'd rather meet a firm standing Atheist (such as yourself), even though I'd not agree with his beliefs (or lack thereof), than to hang around somebody who wants to say that all roads lead to the top of the mountain, or that it doesn't matter.

LIQUID HELL

It's about alcohol abuse... we're a metal band. Most of it's sung except the bridge, which has long screams/yells.

*Verse*

It's from his heart, deep within
He's shooting to the edge, manifested numbing
Not happy with his life, not happy with this omnipresence
Driving down the road, of self-impairment

The assailant leers, from his hand
It's like a force, pushing him down
The power is immense, it's making him melt
No-on can save him but... him...

*Epic bridge bit lol*

...self
No-one can
But him self
He's already gone

Self destroyed
No noise
Dig him a grave

*Chorus*

What will become of the imploding addict?
He's passing through the gates
Of this liquid hell

Nobody wants this and neither does he
But nothing can stop it
In this liquid hell

Aaaaand... that's all I got so far. Needs another verse and some singing in this clean/acoustic sounding part. Thanks for listening. lol.
