Here it is.

Alchemy

I: Opening the Book

Listen to my words, my sons,
be of an open mind.
Inside this tome: a lesson,
Just right for our times,
When to these every gate is perfect
and every road is right.
These people in the darkness,
imagining false light.

To fuse the stars
among the fates.
To bring into reality,
the illusion you create.

Elemental alignment,
to find some way around,
the unattractive truth
in the realities you've found

But it's a stairway to nowhere
on an endless road.
your problematic learning is the star of the show.

II: The Alchemist

I see so many good ideas.
I feel so many vibes.
But, nothing in completion
Accomidates me deep inside.
Breaking into elements,
I see countless combinations,
I'm sure I can make something better,
I can spark new revelations.

Elemental alignment
to find some way around,
the unattractive truth
in the realities you've found.

But, it's a stairway to nowhere
on an endless road,
and your problematic learning is the star of the show.

I shudder at the superstitions
I see outside my door.
I can't rationalize their message,
so there must be no real core.
Don't bother me with ancient ways,
you're wasting valuable time.
My own light is my lamppost,
now leave if you'd be so kind.

Here inside my reason, inside my mind I know I'm safe and secure.
The more I think about my guile and wit, the more it doesn't matter anymore.
The elements are brewing, and I know for a fact that I've opened a door.
My pile of gold is forming, I'll swear to whoever you like that I'm sure.

III: After All These Years

This mix seems to be working, I can finally internalize,
and make sense of the things I've made myself realize.
Yes, the elements must be fusing,
after all these years of time.
The Stone of the Philosopher.
It looked good in my mind.....

Elemental alignment
to find some way around,
the unattractive truth
in the realities you've found.

But, it's a stairway to nowhere
on an endless road,
and your problematic learning is the star of the show.

IV: A Truth Never Learned, A Mistake to Learn from

One morning in his mixings, the alchemist knew only fear,
as he saw the end approaching,
though the Elixer seemed so near.
But seeing through the haze, through the labyrinth from his seed,
he saw his fantasy come crashing, and it could never set him free.

He'd slaved his life away,
only to say,
that in the end he'd lost his way,
and all his work had been in vain.

And as he looked up from his potions,
to the quickly fading sun.
Instead of learning even then,
He felt the compulsion to run.
But he never got far....

V: The Epitaph

So let this story be a lesson, take a stand, what's false, what is true.
The epitaph upon his grave read only what he never knew;

"To fuse the stars,
among the fates,
the bring into reality,
the illusion I create.

Elemental alignment,
to find some way around,
the unattractive truths,
in the reailties I found.

But it was a stairway to nowhere,
on an endless road.
Don't follow my failure,
If only I'd known.
My problematic learning was the star of the show.

Don't let your life be fruitless,
don't try to warp the truth,
don't walk the path I followed,
It will only waste your youth."

Thanks. I'd say it's some of my best work, and hardest.....My Lord this'll be hard to put music to. My band and I have agreed that we'll probably save this puppy for our second album (after we put together the first! :D) We really need some studio time.

I'm editing. This will be the true final draft. I've finally named the 5 parts, and added an intro, which makes the whole thing a bit easier to understand, adds legnth and the epic legend-vibe, and gets the message across easier. Take a look in 5 minutes. It'll be complete.

See, I was inspired by the way that the book of Proverbs in the Bible is written. Whenever a valuable lesson is about to be taught, King Solomon writes for his sons to listen closely to his wisdom. I kind of added to that style of preface, a father opening a book of, say, Aesop's fables talking about the lesson that is about to be taught, then he begins to read (that's where the "To fuse the stars among the fates, etc." begins for the first time.) Then the listener is taken into the story, via the instrumental stuff, and then you're there seeing the alchemist talk about how he wants to combine all these great ideas, and that what he invents will be so much better than the things that are already completed around him. This continues up to "Part III: After all these years". always making some appearance is that break from the inside of the story, hearing the father repeat the "Elemental alignment..." part. In part IV and V the father is ending the story, reading the whole thing again. I visualize that, at the very end of the song, after a little instrumental stuff after the last lyrical part, there will be the sound of a book being snapped shut, and that will echo a bit, and the song will be over.

New lyrics today!

VISUAL AIM

All the same,
it's all a game.
our visual aim.

Minute fame,
it's all in vain.
our visual aim.

We want to see the world we dream of,
until it comes to pass.
And by the time we're used to it,
it's come and gone too fast.

We'd sell a name,
to entertain.
our visual aim.

Such a shame,
we fail to tame.
our visual aim.

We'd sacrifice integrity,
to walk a street of stars.
But if we'd throw away our faith,
what can we say is ours?

Forsaken claim,
our legs are lame, in
our visual aim.

All the same,
it's all in vain,
our visual aim.

Sure as rain,
we can attain,
our visual aim.

But all the fame,
and all the games,
our visual aim,
will never gain,
an eternal name,
an eternal name.

Based off of the verse Mark 8:36, that says "what profits a man if he gains the world but loses his soul." in the Bible.

What do you think?

Lyrics for the acoustic song on the new album, its titled "A poem to the Gael"

A sombre sky above your head
A lonely path below
And hand on heart I cannot see
The light to guide me home
So sing me songs of love and war
Songs of hope and pain
For we are lost within a dream
Unyielding once again

And so it is the end of our days
So walk with me till morning breaks

We travel down this trodden path
A maze of stone and mire
Just hold my hand as we pass by
A sea of blazing pyres
And every thought and every word
That's ever come to me
Has fallen to the great beyond
With hope and memory

And so it is the end of our days
So walk with me till morning breaks

and one of our more typical metal songs, also for the new album, titled "An Ancient Fire Burns"

Fires of wonder and secrets untold
Burn in the darkness where lost dreams unfold
Laid down before me, forsaken memories
Mighty and fallen, a graven prophecy

Bridges are burning and paths become unclear
But my heart is yearning for those I once held dear
Their voices compel me as strong winds whip the land
With tales of old bloodshed upon its breath

To conquer all that fate lays down on me
With breaking heart I see

The skies they are falling
But still I journey on
Our eyes bear the flame
In our veins an ancient fire burns

Hey, another epic. Basically take "Pilgrims Progress", twist it a bit, and put it in Prog-rock epic format.

LAND UNSEEN

I: Twilight World

Sometimes in my twilight world,
of in and out, and fear and doubt,
sometimes in my endless walk,
I turn my eyes to eastern skies.

I wonder if there's something more
beyond my cloudy plain.
But dreams are often drowned out
by the gloom of pouring rain.

II: Decision

I Can't deny it any more.
I'm making for the distant shore,
to find the legend in my soul,
to seek, determine find my goal.

Where am I to go now?
I've left my world behind.
Maybe I should turn back,
there still might be time.
But no, I feel I must go onward,
although I'm not sure where.
But still I must keep moving,
and leave the darkness there.

III: Revelation

I've just had a vision.
I've just walked a dream.
It's real, and I have seen it.
And I'm bursting at the seams.
I know that far beyond here,
off past the mountain's peak,
the Crimson Sea, the white kingdom;
the solace that I seek.

IV: The Climb

*Instrumental section*

V: At the Crimson Sea

Here I am at the impass,
at the point of no return.
What legnths of courage must I reach,
to finally see and learn.
I'll never be the same man,
if a man, indeed, I'll be.
I leave the cage I've lived in,
I dive into the Crimson Sea.

VI: The Transformation

The Riptide tears my soul asunder,
as I plunge on further under.
I feel my darkness and my blind,
cut from me and left behind.
And lower still, I go below,
losing burden to the flow.

Everything is blinding.
Everything is bright.
Everything is falling,
falling up into the light.

Like gold in a furnace,
I'm melting away.
But I'm not dying,
I'm meeting the day.

VII: The White Kingdom

Reborn in a wave of grace,
I surface in this perfect place.
the same voice that had called me on,
is showing me a brand new dawn.
From every corner, every sphere,
with widened eyes, and joyful tears,
the strong and unafraid,
are given robes in there new home.

Follow this, the path I gave you.
You will not die, your faith will save you.
The journey's hard, and the current strong,
but the pain of leaving won't last long.

I'll see you soon.
I wait across the Crimson Sea,
to share with you,
the land unseen.

Kind of. It's basically a common few Church sermon illustrations, the story of Pilgrim's Progress (an allegory for a person's journey with Christ), and yes, Fountain of Lamneth is a major factor. Allegory for the following:

Twilight World and Decision.

A guy begins to become disillusioned with the world around him, and realizes that he has to go soul-searching to figure out what's missing in his life.

Revelation through Transformation:

He realizes that it's God, and he finds out the path to salvation, which is to believe in Christ, and through his blood (Crimson Sea), be purified of sin, even though conviction of what you've done wrong is painful (the soul being torn apart, with the darkness leaving, and then the gold purifying thing.), it never will depress you or hold you down, and you'll find boundless forgivness if you ask for it. then, you are saved (the white kingdom represents this.)

In the process, he's been alienated from his old life which includes his family and friends who would not accept his decision to seek God, and reject him for it.

In the end (the white kingdom part) the guy's describing what it's like to be saved to his family and friends, and telling them that he knows that it will be hard, but that it's worth it, and he's telling them how to do it. He's waiting for them to make that decision, and he's waiting for them to.

Yeah, not very applicable for an atheists life huh? :D I'm sorry if you don't like it. I just wanted your input because you are a fellow Rush fan and a very good lyricist.

As for if I ever write about non-religious things:
I do often write about political stuff. I hate politics and what it represents, which is a machine that consistently betrays it's own founding morals of freedom, and always has a hidden agenda, and has an insatiable lust for power that ends up tearing it's subjects apart. I also write just on every day lessons like being unafraid to stand up in a crowd that sits down, or being confident in who you are.
however, as I see the world through the lens of Christ's lessons and beliefs, there is application for His example for everything, and about 97% of the time, there will be at least an allusion to Him and His love for people, for courage, for individuality, for in all reality, Jesus was the most radical and ridiculous person of His day. He defied the religious norm of the time, taught of compassion instead of harsh judgement, all the while still upholding the Jewish laws that had been supposedly (and I believe so) written by God for Moses to hand down to Israel as the guiding principles for the rest of humanity down the ages. We know them as the Ten Commandments.
Jesus was executed by the Romans upon Jewish request because the priests of the day were scared that His teachings would actually make people believe that they are free, and thus make the religious establishment lose it's grip on people through the fear of God's wrath.
Jesus taught love for people, and forgiveness through repentence, not forgivness through sacrifice or payment or how many hail mary's you can do.
When He was crucified, I believe, he payed for the sin of humanity to open the door to salvation for anyone with humble spirits and the desire for love and forgiveness. When He was resurrected (as I believe He was), He made that possible.
That's why I write so much about Christ, is because He lived the off-the-wall, unique, against-the-flow life that is so righteous to all of humanity, religious or not.

Well, off of the sermon now.
I really do appreciate your input on my songs, especially epics like this that most people would not understand. I also enjoy getting to have intelligent conversations with you. You are a very reasonable person in that you do not take a Christian song as an offense to yourself, you can look on things objectively, and consider other viewpoints, all trademarks of an intelligent and rational person. The world could use more people like that, especially us Christians. If we ever hope to be looked at as being genuine and true examples of a truly divine and loving God, we should all learn to be that way.

Lord, that was a long post......

:p
