"A Glitch In Our Design"

Energize our oceans
Make use of all this dead land
Interstellar ignorance
Enchain these enterprises

Beyond definition
There's a shade of innovation
Beyond this dimention
There's a World waiting in our absence

There's a sea of answers, a pool of questions
The hand that reaches furthest will shape the solution
Shape the solution

Beyond definition
There's a shade of innovation
Beyond this dimension
There's a world waiting in our absence

Dreams are a glitch in the thought process
A figment of our exaggeration
Locked in our subconscience there's a common message

Far beyond mere definition
There's a shade of risk in each and every innovation
Far beyond the crest of of this dimension
There's a World waiting in our absence

Far beyond this dissertation
There's a shade of lure in each & every new direction
Far beyond the crest of this dimention
There's a star born for each & every lost connection

"The Last Field"

Standing on this ridgeline
Overlooking a world unseen by human eyes
Unspoiled, untouched by compromise
Blink - then reappear, can this natural space exist here?
Behind our eyes, film reels spin, projecting these lies

We have a choice to make: Leave this place unrevised
Or fill it with noise, with haste, ritualized, with concrete poise
Assign these sidewalks a voice
Blink - then reappear, can this natural space exist here?
Behind our eyes, film reels spin, projecting these lies
Blink - then disappear, can this virtual field exist here?
Inside our minds, the only confinement we can find

Clean air - a silk shield, this place was the last field
Endless flashing lights, industrialized
Blink - then reappear, can this natural space exist here?
Behind our eyes, film reels spin, projecting these lies

"Unsettled"

Restlessness
Unsettled
Hover above the street, unleveled
The city leans on my side like a wounded soldier
Transparency, it's pointless
City limits take me back to the entrance
Unsettled
Never finished
Never over...

Here's one I wrote last year when I was laid off. The song is also recorded and copyrighted but I don't have the means of posting a recording. Couldn't believe I lost my job because of the greed and stupidity of others form D.C. to Wall Street to Main Street. Found myself saying that I had to accept that things were differant, then I got angry and told myself that somehow I was going to get it all back. (And I'm on my way).

"Yesterday's Dreams"

Take me back, I'm tired of this abuse.
Should have been my better days but I'm really feeling used.
Yeah, I still laugh. But now I'm not amused.
Stole my dreams with your G*****n greed
and I just don't think you're through.

You can't go back chashing yesterdays dreams
It's just a fact. As hard as it seems.
To leave it, to leave it away.

My dad said to watch your back.
I did but not enough.
Drove your knife right thru my spine.
Now the going's getting rough.
Well I want you to step inside my shoes.
Feeling how the forgotten man felt when he was taken, too.

You can't go back chasing yesterdays dreams.
It's just a fact. As hard as it seems.
To leave it. To leave it. To leave it. To leave it.

Don't tell me my dream is over. Don't tell me to just start over.
Don't tell me unlock the border. Don't tell me a new world order.
Don't tell me to just roll over. Don't tell me that change is order.
Don't tell us we're starting over. Don't tell us our dreams are over.

Yeah I may have wanted more.
But not as much as you.
But you took and you got it all and I lost the life I knew.
Well, I'm gonna get it back. You bet there's hell to pay.
Don't believe in your twisted schemes, don't believe in what you say.

I'm going back. I'm living yesterdays dreams.
It's just a fact. Not as hard as it seems.
I'm going back. I'm chasing yesterdays dreams.
It's just a fact. I believe in me.
Believe it. Believe it. Believe it.

there was a while that i tried to write lyrics, but i always had a hard time fitting my words to music. i guess i don't have a knack for lyrical writing, but occasionally i'd land a good turn of phrase.

"another said it best, but were there words i'd say it better. be it jest it not be said again, and again, lest existence let up. set to spark a speech, and speak a spark to spin what's said and what is meant, when what is meant and what is said connect but seek escape from this instead."

"the market raised us as targets, and now they're hard-pressed to move on with no heart left. it happens when we kill all the artists. or maybe it's just artists that have it the hardest. we know full well that we aint the smartest, but we see things with different eyes, and your world is not a looker... or a feeler, or a smeller, or a listener for that matter. it's a taker and we have nothing left to offer."

A new one for you guys. I think we all have places that bring back memories. memories that haunt us, bring us back to reality when we get our heads too far up in the clouds, or remind us to keep dreaming and shooting for the stars. That's what this one is about.

USUAL HAUNTS (Daniel Graham, 2010)

Nothing now,
just memories.
Spectres to the past.
Ghosts that live on in reccollection,
when I stop living so fast.

Sometimes there to remind me,
a lesson I still need to grasp.

Nothing now,
just introspection.
Lost to time gone by.
Ever there to start my senses,
when I stop living so fast.

Sometimes there to ground me,
when i let my mind fly too high.

Sometimes there to remind me
not to stop until I've touched the sky.

There hasn't been too much going on here...
My excuse:
I've been going through some heavy personal stuff (you can piece it together from my Band Management thread) and have therefore written 3 depressing short stories.

Anyone interested? If so, I can post them in chunks on here...
