M-audio mobile pre and effect pedals, problems!

Hey, I got a m-audio Mobile Pre for christmas, and I installed all the drivers, got it plugged in and everything, restarted it, etc. I first used it using one cable just from my bass to the interface, and it worked fine. I decided to try my pedalboard with it, but for some reason using the pedals, i can't get sound without issues- at first, when i was testing i was getting weird, ring mod-ish sounds. Now I seem to get the full sound, but there's a significant buzz that doesn't go away. Again, this is only with pedals, and the thing works fine just plugged directly in.

Does anyone know what the problem is? Could it be my operating system or sound card, or is my gear to blame- the pedals being on a Onespot? I'll try some out with batteries in a sec, but I shouldn't have to power all my effects by battery just to record. I guess it could be one of the cables, but i've tested both standalone and they both work fine.

Thanks

I tried it out with some Danelectro FAB pedals that were on batteries, and it worked fine. I get hum with both my Godlyke and Onespot. I guess I can try plugging it in elsewhere. The output on the box? I have my stereo amplifier hooked up to the unit's stereo line out, so that isnt an issue. The effects work fine when I use an amp (testing with my guitar practice amp), The hum seems to start from something in the mobile pre- my tuner before it works fine but say I use a tuner in Ampeg SVX, it gets messed up by the additional hum being created.

I'll get sound clips if anyone wants to help me figure this out :p
