M6 Carbine + DB410 sound clip

Alright,

Little update and some more clips, mind you, quality is not optimal.

After something like 5 gigs with the rig, I dig it a lot!! So far it's the best sound I've ever had. Live it's big and fat, it got lotsa balls but it's precise and defined at the same time. During the show the clips are taken from, I had the chance to walk out in the venue while we had a guest bass player for three songs and I was astounded at how amazingly the rig projected anywhere in the club without PA support. It was huge, fat and defined anywhere in the room.




Now to answer one of the questions...

The preamp on the SR5 is flat aside from the bass that's boosted a tiny bit.

I played the M9 the other day and im 100% sold. The tone is impecable. I just wish they had a BB750 to compare it too as they arent that much more. Awsome clip. Love the tone. Thats pretty much the same tone I had at the GC the other day with the Music Man Stealth. You can get so many different tones out of the Bass, its just best to set the amp relatively flat with maybe a bit of bass boosted. I especially like the preamp cranked to about 1:30 position and the master as high as you can stand it. Those Music Man's are made for the M6/9. Awsome combination.

Unfortunately, Mesa is spotty on posting some data, like weights. I suspect the M3 head and combo are much lighter than other Mesa gear but not really mini at all. If the combo is based on the powerhouse 12 cab, then it'd be heavier than a Walkabout 12 combo, which is 50 lbs. My guess is the head is similar to the Walkabout in weight at around 15lbs-same power as the Walkabout, and I'd love to know if, like the WA, it can be used safely below 4 Ohms even though that's not advertised. Lastly, I wish Mesa would add features like aux in and phones out to their very musical heads.

Wow, i thought this thread was dead.

Thanks a lot folks for the good comments.

A lot more gigs under the belt with this rig and it totally rocks. I've been gas free since i've got it amp and cabinet wise. Oh well that was before I read here about the Mesa M3. I was looking for a mini version of my rig and now I see an M3 paired with a DB 210 or DB 112 in my future.

Someone was also speaking about switching from ag500. I actually went back and tried the DB cabs with an ag500 to see if I'd go back all Aguilar. I'm not going to enter in all the different characteristics between both amps but when I tried the AG, I found myself tweeking the EQ, putting the deep switch on and off then rolling out some bass etc... etc... and could not find my tone. Switched to the rightaway in the store and BAM!!! There it was.

Lastly, here's a new clip of a performance I did backing up a singer songwriter where the sound is straight from the M6 direct out. The sound from the video has been taken from the board. Now I don't know if the camera feed is post or pre board EQ'ing but it gives you an idea of what great sound this amp can produce.

And here is a couple of otherclips with another singer songwriter recorded from a fan in the crowd, again sound is directly from the amp's direct out. Sound is not optimal but it still gives an idea with the whole mix.

Wow great tone and great playing. This makes me think about replacing my Walkabout with an M6. I'm starting to think that the Walkabout is a little low on power for my neox 212.Thanks for posting the video clips.
