M9 volume question.

I've searched, but it comes up with too many threads and couldn't find an answer in the millions of posts.

So I just got my M9 and it's in one of my loops. I notice a significant volume drop when I'm using it. It's really really annoying me.

I'm asking you all, what do you do to remedy this?
I thought about using the Boost comp in my scenes, but this would take up an effects slot and I really don't want that.

Of course some of the scenes I have set up have distortion or another effect that I can set to match the volume when it's bypassed.

An idea I had was to get a Catalina Bread Chili Picosso as a volume booster and put it in the loop along with the M9.

Any other ideas? What other pedals are there for the simple task of boosting signal.
Wasn't there a really simple pedal called the Serrano or something? A tiny little pedal that only had a volume knob.

Which effects are quiet? To me, some of them are way too loud, like the tube comp and the synths - I end up using a slot for a volume pedal just to bring them back down to sensible levels.

Did you buy it new? Maybe it's faulty.

Nope. I've bough it used. It's not a HUGE volume drop. But noticeable. I don't think it's a faulty pedal as I've read somewhere else that someone was having the volume drop issue.

If I use modulation effects it get's quiet. Some of the filters are quiet.
The synths, yeah they can get loud but I found how to use the Q knob to bring down the level.
Basically if I'm not using any of the distortions/ODs, comps, or synths... the level drops in my chain.

TBH I'm not hugely surprised, it doesn't seem like they paid much attention to volume issues when they designed it, it's difficult to get the right input signal to the envelope filters too everything seems to drive them too hot.

Yeah I guess if you got a little boost and stuck it in a loop with the M9 that would do it. It probably wouldn't even need to be that much, just a couple of dBs.

yup that's my idea exactly. Now.. which one? I'm not too familiar with boosters. I know Dr Scientist has a good one... but dang... $200? I'll look around for a bit.

And with the envelope filters, I really had to work on my technique to get a good action on them. Lightened up my playing a bit when they're on.

Check this thread, specifically post #181. Since you bought your M9 used, you could have a unit with a problem.

I remember a thread that listed the actual serial numbers of units that could have the problem but now I can't find it.
