I love how he ended up with what's her name's mom, presumably off traveling the world and spending their money and living it up.
Is Betty Draper a terrible person? She's not a good mother. She's petty. She's dumb. She's not loving. I've been watching random episodes and she's just the worst. Does she have any redeeming qualities? She's hot and she's charming from time to time but she's an awful human being. Am I wrong?

I can’t recall Betty having any notable redeeming qualities. She was all the things you said. She liked the lifestyle afforded by Don’s success. She loved her children but she was a terrible mother for sure.
I'm skipping around episodes and I come across the flashback scene of Dick Whitman's conception and birth. Dick's father is telling the prostitute (Dick's mom) that a condom will cost an extra 25¢, so she agrees to skip it but warns him she'll cut it off if she gets in trouble. Then later after she died and the midwife is handing off the baby, she says his name is Dick, after his mother's last wish. I never noticed this before. This show is so good. Putting a hilarious little joke in such a poignant moment is brilliant.

I need to watch it again. I’m sure a lot of details would make more sense on a 2nd viewing. It’s one of the all-time best TV shows.
It really is and I'm surprised by how many people haven't seen it. But it's so good. The dialogue is so smart.
