Huh... Mad Professor posted a reply about midnight last night (our time) to Bill Zee's question on 2/17:

Tried today Mad professor bass OD at Custom shop. Sounded really good. It has lots of gain compared to BJF version. Maybe I have to buy one although I am not sure if I need one.

According to the people from Custom Sounds, yes.
I asked that very same question when I bought my BJFE 3BOD.

Would you still say it's a BBBOD though, same tonal characteristics all the way through with a bit more range now or is it something completely different now?

Difficult to say because it has been couple of years since I last time played BJFE version. I have never owned one but had BJFE version for trial for a weekend. Did not end up buying BJFE then because I was so in love with my CPD (and still am).

New blueberry can deliver massive stoner (almost fuzz-like) od sounds but it has also very good tube-break-up-low-gain-od sound similar to BJFE as I recall. Tone control goes from very low end heavy to noticable upper mids boost. I think tone knob made it quite versatile. So, all I can say it sounded good and to my ears low gain od was similar to BJFE.

Would you still say it's a BBBOD though, same tonal characteristics all the way through with a bit more range now or is it something completely different now?
