Maestro?

Hello All,
I ran across a cool looking short scale hollow body bass yesterday with the brand name "Maestro". I have never seen one before and cannot find any info online. The name plate on the headstock seemed very large. It looks like a mid to late 60's era bass. I am wondering if it is a Matsumoku build.
Any info/pics would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking of trading a Carvin LB70 for it but I need more info before I make my decision.

Maestro, at least now, is a cheapo Gibson brand that makes vintage style instruments like les pauls, SGs, and acoustics and god knows what else.

that ain't no 60's bass. Like general electric said, they're part of the gibson family and most commonly found at london drugs, zellers and walmart.

I personally wouldn't trade anything for one. cept for some old used shoelaces.

I am well aware of the cheapo Maestros but I guarantee that this one is late 60's or early 70's. I will see if I can get photos

IIRC Maestro was cheap junk back in the 60's also.

I have seen some very old Maestros on CL etc....and I have also seen them at Target.

Maestro are a cheap sister brand to Gibson as stated. Alot of the guitar schools here in England use them to teach large classes (as they cost about £80 - £100 each) Definate beginner models. Don't sound all to great either, and you can get hold of them practically anywhere.

Maestro aren't good for much, you can use 'em as a table leg. That's about it.

Also, as far as "bumping" the thread goes, I was expecting a call from the shop and I needed to find information as quickly as possible. I did not mean to offend anyone. I had done lots of searches and found nothing. I still can't find a picture of this model bass online. So I thought someone here might be able to help. Sorry about that.
