I just got back from Hawaii tonight, and I say it's koa. The hotels where we stayed had shops featuring everything from koa rings to koa rocking chairs. That bass looks just like a koa rocking chair.

I have no idea what carvin offered for wood options. That looks like mahogany to me. I've never seen Koa look like that.

It's very easy to look it up---Koa was the upgrade option for basses in 1997.
