"Making Vince Neil"

The only thing worse than ReMaking (insert clueless old rocker name here) is...

... that lil' show over on M(p)TV... Made?...

I'm flipping channels and I come across some teenage goody-two-shoes small church town girl (daughter of ministers!) trying to become this, um, "yo, dat b-girl smokin da moves to the funky flava of hip-hop, hell, yeah boy! Word!"

I'm amazed I actually saw the rest of the show. Maybe, there was some comedy value to it. Watch religion girl become one badass mutha from da hood... :D

But that is wrong, man. Little nerdy 4.0 GPA girl gets all street? :scowl: She needed Chapelle to come take hear to the REAL steets and leave here there "Sh... sh.. sh...g...g...g...g...goodbye!"

Today I'm flipping channels... there again another suburban girl trying to be a real homey... I had enough with the first one. Sorry.

If there's one thing I absolutely cannot stand about some white people, being a white person myself, is their constant need to act black, or just plain something they're not and do not understand. It's disgusting. Especially teenage girls. I won't go into it, as I think I might have to piss on the rules just a bit to do so. Anyway, Vince Neil is a weenie. So are the rest of the Crue.

Saw the stupid thing on Leno New Years Eve.

Vince drops the F bomb. No delay. East Coast gets it live, West Coast has it censored.

No one says crap for 3 days. Then the press starts to talk about it.

Some right-wing nitwit must have caught wind of it in the press (couldn't have been awake for it, musta gone to bed at 8:00), and apparently starts the usual tirade for "decency".

It's usually just a few losers with no lives, but the FCC is a knee-jerk reactionary bunch of weenies, so they usually jump with the least amount of prodding. They would only say that they got "a number of calls".

My experiences in hearing about the particulars of previous FCC matters has shown that it's rarely more than 5 or 10 calls (and most likely from the same group of uptight twits).

So, of course, now the FCC's after Leno.

Nice. And for what? Crue?? Vince trying to be cute??

Lame.

Mars looked like he was on Mars. He was in a fog. His solo was incomprehensible.

Vince should probably stick to doing reality TV, Tommy should do porn, and poor Mick should probably retire to the Barcolounger with the appropriate meds, and nurse that damn back, instead of trying to play live while in a coma.

I can relate...I have arthritis. Go sit down, dude. You can still work in the studio...

His fiancee is there, gettin freaked out, and I don't think she could have been any more fake looking. Like the perfect example / poster child for why NOT to have plastic surgery. She was all fake boobs, collagen lips that make Pam Anderson's look normal by comparison, and a lift so extreme her eyes don't even look like they can close.

Ugh, she was nasty looking, imo.

Imo if she had as many sticking out of her as she's had stuck in her, she'd look like a porcupine.

Man you guys do know that Mick Mars is still recovering from hip surgery and has a nurse around him 24/7. And his in on medication.

Lets see how well you guys do when you have a hip replacement. If you guys are going to talk **** about people at least have the decency to get the facts srait before bashing someone. Man you guys should get a job at STAR magazine, or the National Enquire.

Why is it that the censorship is always associated with the right wing when the most famous pop media censorship crusade of the last 20 years in America was carried out by a very liberal democrat?

Let's skip arguing the "Right vs. Left" censorship issue here. My beef is: These days (braodcast)TV programming goes from offering us "The Captain's Lobster Platter" to "Chicken Pad Tai" and still ends up being less than what they advertise it as.
It's nice to know you can get Potato Salad with your Sushi. But don't you really wish you couldn't?

Dude...I realize the man's in pain - it was obvious. Like I said...I can relate.

I read earlier in the thread that it was back pain...but if it's hip surgery, I'll give him even more of a discount for being up there. But perhaps it was too soon to be out, and playing up on stage. He clearly wasn't with it. Like I said; go sit down, and nurse that thang.

A gig that big, especially if it's to be some sort of a "comeback" should see everyone in tip-top shape...or else it's just not worth making. They ended up just looking lame, old, fat, infirm, and washed up. It was a shame.

To make matters worse, Vince's "comment" didn't seem "accidental" at all. He was just trying to be cute. He'd probably be more "cute" if he dropped another 25 pounds instead of the F bomb on NBC during a live broadcast, just to get a rise out of the FCC and the press.

Best wishes to Mick... he seemed the least egotistical as well... strange, he was the lead guitarist.

This is off topic, but I watched the decline of western civilization: metal years a while back and all the "metal" guys were mad because kids were listening to grunge and wondering why they liked such down music, music is about escaping reality, blah blah.

Uh, hair metal would piss me off if it was the music of my teenage years. I mean, they are more or less singing, "I get to sex up the hottest women in the world... you don't... and it's my job." That's (was) the reality.

I really dislike it when people tell other formerly successful musicians to "give it up". I don't EVER want to give it up, music is my heart, my lifeblood, and my emotional release. Once a musician, always a musician in heart. If these guys can continue to make music someone wants to hear, and make $$$ doing it, more power to them. They're musicians, they're brothers - don't ever tell them to quit.

Take a look at Duran Duran. Those guys focused HEAVILY on their teeny-bopper image in the 80's, but still wrote some cool stuff (bass part in "Rio" smokes). They have a little comeback, and IMO did it "right": they are older, but still looked cool and not ridiculous. Suit jackets, stylish shirts, shorter hair but still artsy. Back up singer chick no longer wearing a nightie, but a business suit with her hair up. Classy way to pull off performing when looking older. Took a page out of Robert Palmer's book, and that dude NEVER looked out of place on stage, always cool, regardless of age.

Perform your craft, make music for others to enjoy, and ignore people who tell you to quit or "move on" because you look older. Its about the music, not the hairline or the leather pants.

Mick Mars has had a degenerative bone disease his whole life. It just gets worse with age, and he's pushing 60 I believe.

Even in the latter days of the band's heyday he was all but crippled. It must be taking no end of drugs and prosthetics for him even to be able to walk around onstage much less play guitar.

Worst part, he truly needs the money and basically has none to his name. Let's all count our blessings.

Wow, I had no idea he was that old, that broke, or that sick.

That's terrible to hear.

I have Psoriatic Arthritis myself, and I'm on the verge of losing the ability to walk (on "bad" days, I can't). I've already lost the use of the 3rd finger and pinky on the right hand, but I'm blessed to still have the full use of my left hand, and the two "main" fingers for playing on my right hand.

I can relate. I could tell he was in pain, and heavily medicated. I didn't know he "needed" the gig. That's a shame.

I would have hoped that he would have banked some Crue money to retire on, but I know all about getting eaten alive by the music biz...sucks to hear.

I forget the name of it, but it's some kind of disease in which the bones overgrow over time and harden up eventually stiffening to a point of immobility.

ankylosing spondylitis

I hope yours heals. That sounds like no fun at all.

Actually, ankylosing spondylitis is kinda related, and part of the "package deal" with my disease. Fun.

As for how to get robbed in the music business, I could write a book. In fact, one day, I just might.

Both my parents (some of you may be on to who I am by now) got so completely robbed, it's positively scary...and they are considered legends in the music business. It's criminal what was done to them. A really good lawyer could probably fix a lot of it...but where to find "the right guy"?

I would almost recommend that anyone wanting to be in the music business should probably first study to be a lawyer.

The funniest thing about all this filesharing nonsense is the supposed premise that the artist is somehow being ripped off. My ass! Since when does the artist get ANY?

...But that's a rant in and of itself. Don't get me started.
