Male or Female singer

Were stuck to say the least. The band is split today we tried out a pretty well rounded girl. And I must say out of the many we've tried she was the most impressive. Our last singer was a real flake and this chick was the exact opposite. She wrote her own lyrics figured out how to sing um and has the drive and attitude we need. The guys had some initial problems said she was to weak and couldn't hit low notes. But she proved um wrong and really shined. Me and the drummer think she's perfect but even with the problems addressed they want a male singer. I think a girl fits better to our kind of music. Hard rock punk ska and goth. So were going to try out a guy though I hate their reasoning. Because we can be more like the popular bands. I liked us being different and original.

What do you like more male? Female?
What do you play?

In the musical,not physical, sense, right? Or maybe both? :D

The pros stand out more if you make a list. :cool:

How about two singers(male and female)?
Seems to me that you and your bandmates should have decided ahead of time not to audition female singers. Complete waste of time, especially for the females auditioning.

When was it decided not to hire female singers? Why is the band divided? Who's the leader. Seems to me a band meeting is in order.

So all you have been auditioning is female singers? What brought about the change of mind?

How about you take the drummer and get with the singer and start your own band.

With her drive and talent, seems to me that you'll have the better band and some cool people to hang with.

Book the girl, most male vocalists are awful

Make a rule that no one in the band will sleep with her

I will only cause drama and split the band

Enjoy staring at her butt, and all the scenester chicks that suddenly come to yours shows

You can date them ;)

It may be that your bandmates have a vision of the band as a testerone-driven guys' club. I mean, if Steve Tyler quit Aerosmith, can you see them bringing in a female singer to replace him? Could you imagine No Doubt with a guy singing lead instead of Gwen Stefani? Talent is one thing, but there's also image, if only the band's self-image. That is a choice that affects the vibe the band gives off. Myself, I think a strong female front person for the band is a huge asset, especially if she's as good as you say, so I'm totally on your side. But I'm guessing you guys need to talk about what your vision of the band is to resolve this.

Yeah we were chewing on these ideas for a while. And we have somewhat a talented singer on the drums. And I brought it up and he was all for it and I.asked the other guys they want the male presence on stage. It's obvious more and more girls are becoming singers and it really helps the music in my opinion sometimes. I can't see a guy singing for us I really can't our music is very melodic and high and has a lot of harder faster chorus. Which i think a powerful female singer could cover very well. But the added benefit of a male singer for chorus sounds good too. It's a tough one

IF your band is together..

Find a cute girl (sorry to be so realistic) then have them fill the spot.

There are tons of girl tunes that a guy can't pull off.

Do remember this adds a different twist to a band... it's a different dynamic.

i genuenly like female singers BUT theres a big problem. if you are of my age (16-25) and you start playing gigs more people seem to focus on the singer than the rest of the band depending on how attractive she is.

i wish i had a graph to illastrate this

basicly as looks increase intrest in the rest of the band decresses

We had an awesome female vocalist and the only problem was she sang 75% of the songs which was a mistake. When she quit it was a scramble for others to pick up the vocals and key changes. Make sure one the band members is a strong male vocalist just in case.

1+ I can't overstate the advantages of having an attractive female singer/musician in your group. From more chicks at your shows to more ladies on the dance floor. More people are going to be interested in seeing your group on average with female members over bands with just another bunch of f-ugly dudes.
