Nice job! It looks great! It sounds like we are a lot alike. I am always buying and selling gear. I mod every bass I get and am always looking for a new project. There is something very satisfying about reworking a bass into something you feel is just right!

DH, everything you touch turns to awesome. I think the main thing I didn't like about those basses is how bleach white the necks are. The MIJ necks are super nice. I had one on a fenderbird that I sold, but I wish I could have kept the neck.

The MIJ necks are really nice. This one is nice and chunky, and balances the bass really well.

You saw my other thread... yeah, that was pretty much all my mula. Plus I think I'm gunna buy the VM tele bass this summer, swap necks. Then I have 2 "custom" basses and no extra parts. Plus I love the sound of the mudbucker!

I had one of those with a seymour duncan i played for 6 months as my main bass , it was sweet but i got a cash offer that allowed me to profit a tad and took it, i kinda miss that bass.

I'm glad I was able to give a tiny bit of assistance/inspiration on such a cool bass. Looking forward to seeing it Darkstarred and some nice "live action" shots !

I went ahead and ordered a humbucking "rails" style pickup to test out in it, so when it arrives I'll do sound clips with the Antiquity and the Rails pickup so you can compare. I'm curious to hear the results myself !

Just for the heck of it I ordered an inexpensive "rails style" single coil pickup so I could compare against the Antiquity II P Bass single coil.

I'm bloody tired (and buzzed), so the playing sucks (it's all over the place)...but you'll at least be able to hear what each pickup sounds like.

The order is :

1) SD Antiquity II - tone wide open
2) SD Antiquity II - tone all the way rolled off
3) Cheap rail humbucker - tone wide open
4) Cheap rail humbucker - tone all the way rolled off

Again, sorry I'm tired and buzzed - I just wanted to do the Antiquity clip, install the other pickup, and do the hummie clip....just curious. Tomorrow I'll play with the pickup height and see how the tone changes, but right now I'm too tired.

The settings I used on my Line 6 Toneport are below - just flat, a bit of compression.
