I feel I'm reaching a point where I need a manager or lawyer to help me with contracts/negotiations with the artists I work with.

When did you first decide to get a manager for yourself? Any tips on finding a good one? I'm in LA so I know there are plenty around, I just don't know where to start exactly.

I feel I've done alright on my own up to now but I'm getting in a little over my head with the legal stuff at this point.

Get a decent lawyer first, a manager second. Honestly: never truly needed a manager until my producer career came into play several years ago. Even though I had one.

I'd recommend my lawyer, but she's too busy and too expensive. Check around w/ trusted friends, particularly friends who have some degree of success and seem to have their act together.
