imho Tbirds are great for pick and palm muting. Sick as a dog in this one but lots of palm muting going on.
You guys are making me understand why there's a market for basses with Maltese crosses on them...![]()

I'll post this here first.
A new Thunderbird from Gibson that I ordered today for a friend in Germany.
If you look closer you'll notice it's a short scale 'Bird!

(and then tries to run for political office...) and it certainly doesn't reflect my political or social views. And I've 'been' Russian and American in other productions.hmm... what's up with the knobs on that? They look out of alignment. I wonder if intentional or a sterling example of current QC...
Well, I guess I am not one to talk considering this:

but, for the record, I got paid for this (for a docudrama for German ZDF-TV - sort of like PBS) and am not one of the guys that wears this stuff for weekend recreation(and then tries to run for political office...) and it certainly doesn't reflect my political or social views. Back east when I was coming up, if a guy came out on stage with a Gibson Thunderbird you knew it meant serious rock. At the time they were the icon bass for ultra cool rock look.
As near as I can tell the knob placement is deliberate, I'm actually kind of excited to try this bass out, it should arrive some time next week. I haven't had a short scale bass since my first, a Japanese EBO copy not unlike the current Epi.
BTW David, you could tell us more about that pic too!

Name ANY bass player who used one! Maybe some kid who got a good report card, that's about it.

Honorable mention to Chris Solberg with Santana using an Embassy.
A lot of the comments on this thread remind me of the kind of conservative mind-set that 'greeted' the electric bass when it was first introduced and dismissed it as an "inferior" toy and not a 'real' instrument.
but some of these players actually can play. The actor playing Hitler looks strangely like the fellow in Inglorious Basterds... Any relation?![]()
A detailed report when you get this. Any idea if this short scale Bird will be available Stateside? Curious.
Thats cool... great resume! Great influences too! Outstanding taste indeed!OT: I know some of the people that worked on Inglorious Basterds but he's not one of them. He's a well-known Polish stage actor - and has also played Stalin!
David, absolutely cool "day job"!

I am playing Entwistle in the Broadway Production of Tommy... (well the bass player)... at University of California Davis two months hence. With the rest of the Who Tribute band I am in.

Dr. Eagle, here's a buddy of mine and his Who tribute band playing "The Real Me" with his Fenderbird thru a Sunn set up just like JAE's.
