Marcus Miller pickup replacement?

I love the sound of my marcus miller Jazz bass, but, the 60hz hum is killing me... I typically don't play with both pickups at equal volumes, so there's a lot of buzz coming in.

I'm considering the fender noiseless, but is there anything I should be looking at that's a better choice?

Thanks!

This is a real dilemma for me. In my experience, I have found that single coil pickups [that hum] are the ones that give the best growly tone (assuming of course that growly tone is what is desired). Humbuck pickups are certainly quieter, but they seem to dull the growl. So, which one to choose??

Are there any pickups that have the same level of growl but don't hum when one pickup is being used at a different level than the other one???

For noiseless, I'd recommend Bill Lawrence's J-45, which is my favorite pickup in general. It's clearer, has a bit more sensitivity to fundamental, and a smoother top end character than most Fender-style pickups, but it's certainly not duller. It will have no problem with growl if that comes from your bass and technique, and you'll probably be good with a tiny boost in the upper mids at the amp if that's how you hear it. The Marcus Miller sig is a pretty great sounding bass already :) Good luck!

tough crowd today...

actually I did this first, and have found NO posts regarding same sound replacement... I was looking for maybe somebody else that has done a change out and had some good suggestions.

I'm sorry. I thought I had seen the topic come up before.

I've had four pairs of pickups on my miller: the orginals, antiquity II's, nordy NJ4's and Nordy NJ4-SV the last ones being noiseless. Now I've always disliked noiseless pickups myself, but those were tolerable.

However, I opted to change the pre to a better one with real passive mode and do a shielding job. The 60hz hum is still there, but as all the noise that actually annoyed me is gone I much prefer the real single coils.
