Mark Bass Minicmd151P - speaker connection query

Calling all owners MinCmd151P owners:)

I have one of these, which I have been really pleased with.

I've a question about the in/out connections panel [it uses the Combo II amp]

There is a Speakon speaker out socket for an extension cabinet.

Just below it is jack socket, into which is plugged a right-angle jack on a short lead that disappears into the amp casing.

My assumption was that this is the output from the amp to the combo's own 15" speaker - I remember a Trace Elliot combo I once owned had a similar arrangement and unplugging it [with the amp off] meant the combo's 2x10 speaker cab could be used as an extension cab for another amp.

So I thought I should be able to use the 1x15 speaker on its own as an extension cab for my MarkBass TTE 500

However, the socket is labelled in the MarkBass user manual as "Speaker Out 1/4" Jack" [see screenshot from user manual]

Is this correct? Is the speaker hardwired to the head. And if so where does the short jack lead go?

May be a dumb question, but hoping someone can help even if it is:laugh::laugh:

The speaker is not hardwired to the head, however you're going to need some sort of extension on that 1/4" Jack if you want to reach an external head. I'm not sure why you'd want to do this.

Thanks for your reply - this clarifies things for me :)
I realise I had it the wrong way round! The 1/4" jack socket into which the 90 degree jack plugs in is actually a speaker output [duh!]
The reason I want to do this is is I want to use the speaker in the combo as an extension speaker for a TTE 500, [already paired with a MarkBass 1501 cab] which I like the sound of better. Guess I should have thought this through before posting!

If you must “experiment”, be absolutely sure that the metal shell of the 1/4” connection can’t touch anything metal (including the chassis). This can damage many amps.
