Markbass amps/cabs???

I'm running my LMII right now on my Ampeg SVT 410HLF and I really do like the sound with that cab. Tons of bottom. To be honest 500 watts is about the minimum I can get by with for the music I play but the LMII does a remarkable job for such a small package. MY other cab is a Ashdown ABM 414T and the LMII pushes that cab pretty good too. Not as much bottom due to the design and frequency response of the Ashdown but still a good sound and very tight.

I ran the LMII on a single 15 ported cab that a friend of mine has, it was a Peavey tour series 8 ohm cab. Again the LMII sounded good. This amp seems to sound great with whatever cab you toss it on top of.

I finally got a chance to check out the Markbass cabs this weekend at GC. (I've been using my LMII with Epifani cabs.) I first tried an LMII with a 210 and 15, and that combination sounded REALLY good - very similar tonal profile to the Epi cabs I'm used to, from the lows up to the highs. I was impressed. Then I tried an SD800 with a 410 (I don't know which 410 is was) and I was very unimpressed - it sounded thin, really wide, and boxey. I didn't have the time to try different mixes and matches to find out if I was hearing the cab or the head, but I was impressed enough with how that 210 and 15 sounded that I'll be sure to take time for a full eval on the Markbass cabs soon.

Did the 210 and 115 cabs have front ports?

Interesting, this is similar to my opinion. I went to GC AGAIN and tried AGAIN a 115 + 210 against a 115 + 410.
The 115 + 210 wins hand down and sounds awesome (reassuring me I have the right combination). I don't like the 410 at all, agree it sounds boxey.

I didn't care for the 410 either, but in fairness I didn't try it in a live setting. After having the chance to try several different MB cabs with my CMD121P I ended up with a 151P ... that combo has worked great so far :cool:
