Markbass classic 610 vs Bergantino NV610

Hi

I'm looking for a 6x10 to use with my 4/8 ohm FAD Four valve amp.

These seem to be the options to go for if I want to keep it sealed and kinda small and light-ish.

Since I occasionally read this forum, my guess is that most of you will recommend the Bergantino + the 4 ohm load also speaks in the advantage of the Bergie (Markbass is 6 ohms).

However, it got more interesting when I checked the pricing. I can get my hands on a second hand markbass 610 for 600 euro's. Nearest Bergie importer told me that getting a Bergie at my place will be about 1500 euro's.

Is the Bergie worth about three times the damage I will sustain if I go for the markbass? How big is the quality difference, actually :p?

I don't have the Mark Bass 6x10, but I DO have the 8x10 classic cab
By MarkBass. I'll probably get flamed for this, but I would take the MarkBass cab at 600euros over the Berg at 1500 any day of the week. I love my MarkBass CL108, sounds great and it's VERY light compared to the competition. A sealed cab will sound great with that tube head of yours to boot. Good luck

Why would you get flamed for that :p? It's all a matter of opinion and opinions is what I'm looking for right now.

The CL 106 is very alike to the CL108. Exactly the same speakers, just two less.

I won't have any chance to test the berg before eventually buying it (no dealers in this here country). For this reason, I'll probably go take the markbass for a test drive anyways and see whether I like it or not.

I haven't spent much time with the CL 106, but back in Invalid Link Removed, I reviewed the Classic 300 & CL 108, and I did directly compare the CL 108 to the NV610. The "NV610 was more punchy and stronger in the low-mids, while the CL 108 had more presence in the upper midrange and highs."

Thanks for the link (and the review :p).

I'm kind of a sucker for cabs with some excess low mid violence... Another point to the Berg there, I guess :p...

1500 euros is by far the most expensive cab I ever actually took interest to. It'd better be brilliant for a price like that.

When saying "CL 106 stronger in the highs", do you mean with the tweeter turned on? Quite likely that I won't be using much tweeter anyways.

I'm Belgian like you and just wondering where you'll find a Berggie in the country.
My last research for a Bergantino dealer was Musik Station in Germany, shipping+cost rose the price of the nv610 at 1500€ which was too expensive for me.

Markbass is quite easy to find everywhere and is far less expensive.
In terms of tone and playability I can't tell ...

Yeah, exactly the same situation ;)...

I'm just trying to find out whether the berg is really worth the huge investment (read: muchos better than the markbass)...

Yes, with the tweeter turned on. With the tweet off, I'd probably give the nod on high(ish) end content to the Berg.

I don't really like shrill highs, so that's why I generally avoid putting tweeters past 10-20% (I hated the tweeter on my old markbass 104 HLF). I do like high mids and lower treble grind. As long as there is no "zing" involved, anything goes.

if it helps make your decision any easier, the markbass crosses over at 3.5k, and the berg does 4.5k, so if you turn the tweeter off, you will lose the high end content that i like. but with it on, you'll gain way more high end content than i like. so that's a judgment call, but based on that spec alone, the berg wins for me.

I'm absolutely sure I would too ;). Really looking for that oldschool funk/soul/rock vibe. Mounted my ray with flats and bought me a tube amp and never even looked back. Even slapping sounds better now IMO.

My car, however, wouldn't really survive an 810 being shoved in there :'-).

But why are the best things always 2.5 times as expensive :')?...

How do you think dual ampeg PF-115 HE's would fit in this story? These would be very easy to transport and I can go modular with 'm.

It's gonna be either the berg or two of those...

Now you're kind of comparing apples and tuna :) 10's and 15's are pretty different...never really been a 15's guy except on my old Portaflex. If serious amounts of low end is what you're after, the Markbass may bum you out...I love the low weight of the 810 I tried, but just not nearly enough low end for my tastes. Not to muddy the waters, but 12's are a nice go between...I'm currently running 212's and 410's, which is very full sounding...both cabs are Genz Benz Uber series. The Berg fans aren't wrong for loving those cabs...seriously cool stuff. only you can decide whether the higher cost is 'worth it.' My new cabs are a little more spendy than some, but I have zero regrets

I'm not really ruling out any speaker sizes.

What I'm looking for is a cab that can give me a good "vintage" tone with enough mid punch and some reasonable volumes. Ain't gonna lose sleep over the fact whether that'll be a 15'er or 10'er.

don't know, dude...haven't got a chance to try them out. you really can't tell anything other than a general idea on youtube videos.

This thread really interests me because I'm looking for a 6x10 for my new live rig. I like the option of having a tweeter you can turn on or off. I also like the fact that the Markbass 610 is 70 pounds. I know with neo drivers it probably won't have as much low end as the NV610, but can anyone comment on that? Also I am very curious if Markbass CL 106 sells for less than $1,040 that is listed on the guitar center website. They discontinued now, is guitar center selling them for less? What about any other retailers? If I could find a new cl 106 for $800, I think I might be sold. I have yet to hear a markbass cab I didn't like.
