Markbass compressore??

I don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere, but:

bongo's review made it to the Markbass website.

Impressive.
Congratulations bongo, on your dedication for reviewing any pedal you can get your hands on... and trying to get your hands on every compressor that is out there.

Heh... this makes me want to ditch my rack unit and get the Compressore.

Stupid question: does this pedal work better at the beginning of your signal chain or at the end?

It depends of the pedals you use:
It's better to put it just after your bass, as the compressor will process better a clean signal.
But it you have envelope filters, or distortions, it's better to put it a the end, because this kind of pedals reacts with the dynamics of your signal... as the compressor decreases dynamics.
You have to try and let you ears make the decision.

So far, the MB is here. Problem is, I can't for the life of me figure out how to use the da?n thing! The only way I can get any indication of compression with the light is to turn the threshold all the way down. Nothing else seems to have any effect. I am sure it's operator error at this point, but the Demeter does appeal to me because I don't like to tweak knobs all night, I like to set and forget. Hopefully, I will figure out how to use it. The Demeter arrives tomorrow.

I'll be able to test that in about 10-12 days. Sorry it can't be sooner.

heh, no rush :)

I'm not planning on buying it within the next 12 days.
(although you may never know what GAS will do to me.)

It costs 222€ around here, and the way you "rave" about it it must be worth its price.

But I don't want the footprint of that on a pedalboard. It will be constantly on with me anyway. So I might velcro it on top of my amp and replace the 2U rack unit.
Or that way I can put it last in my in the signal chain and go from there in the amp input.

I have not used any effects for several years now, but this comp is GASing me.

Apart of the job it is design for (compressing ). Would you guys find it useful to add that vintage flavor of classic studio tube compressors?

On it's own, I would say no. But if you use it in conjunction with the Tech 21 sansamp on it's "SVT style" setting, or a variation thereof, I get a great tube driven sound. With the Markbass Compressore, the compression is truly performed with the tube, and it shows. However, it doesn't create a real tube saturated sound on its own IMO.
