Markbass compressore??

The Markbass Compressore went from "More expected in stock 12/31" to "Expected 2-4 weeks" on the GC and Musicians Friend web sites. I had all ready added it to my signature :bawl:
(edit) Until the next day when it changed back to 12/31 only to then change to 1/6 before the end of the day. We shall see in a few more days.

Even more egregious, perhaps, is that they state that its greatest compression is with a ratio of 1:8, rather than the actual 1:∞! I guess they figured a numeral eight is close enough, even if it isn’t rotated 90°!

Btw, I've talked to the music123 support (had a compressore on order since christmas or so) and they say that there are two shipments coming in; one jan6 and one 3/30. they cannot tell how many orders will be filled or whether mine is one, for jan6.

It seems very probable for them to be quite back ordered, and sell out on jan6 before any new orders can go out, but I really don't know how many they will get.

Anyone heard anything at all more?

Thanks, I actually just got mine in the mail today! Got another hour with it before I have to leave for school. I have a couple of questions: What does an attack of 2 / 50ms mean? How should I set the attack release? I've been keeping the attack 7-9:00 and the release around 11-1:00. Should the attack always be lower than the release?

Cons: It is big and Ugly
Pros: Couldn't get noise unless I used extreme settings with full gain, Easy for a newb to get great peak limiting sound, it allows me to get just nasty with my Mutron with out killing my ears and speakers on large peaks.

Attack refers to how quickly the compressor grabs onto the signal and compresses it. Release refers to how quickly the signal is decompressed. A shorter attack and longer release allows for a more transparent sound, however you may want to change that. You can actually get some pretty cool effects by messing with attack and release times.

Does yours have the DI built in, or is that no longer part of it and I'm just late to the party?

This or the EBS?

If you are asking "which one should I buy", I'd break it down like this: The Markbass has a wider (more versatile) range of response/action, it's easier to match up with basses that have very different output levels, and it has lower noise. However it is like four times as big, and requires a non-standard power supply.

I was looking for much serious compressor then the EBS and in the store that i buy in Israel they have both, I sold my EBS Yesterday and I'm thinking about buying the MarkBass.

So I think this compressor is great but the control is a bit overwhelming for my ignorance. I get great sounds but don't understand them. The only thing I think I understand is peak limiting for my Mutron and slapping. But how do I dial in a punchy or a funky tone?
