Markbass compressore??

Please read the reviews linked in my sig. After that, let me know if you have any specific questions.

well from my understanding of your reviews both are great compressors. since neither of them have noise issues and are about the same price range, i guess i meant to ask how their tones compare to each other. I would be using one of them as a leave-on-all-the-time deal to add something extra to my tone; clarity, fatness, but leaves most of my tone in tact. i would never really use extreme amounts of compression. it does sound like the diamond is perfect for me, but you make the compressore sound very promising in so many ways that i wanted to make sure i chose the one that would be the best for me. thanks.

From my meager understanding of Bongo's reviews, it looks like the Markbass has more refined set of controls, similar to rack gear. Attack Release Gain Threshold Blend, and it does it with pretty much no noise, where as most other floor units just have "compression" and some gain / volume knob.

There's a video of the Markbass on about page 3 of this thread. But thats listening to a youtube clip on computer speakers, I couldn't really even tell what it was doing...

Also, the Markbass takes 12V DC instead of just 9V, so if you're using a fuel tank jr or a brick, you'd still need to use a one spot.

For what its worth, I think i'll be getting the compressore once its available to try out in the GC. That, a VT once the used flood the market, the ehx enigma, and a solid power supply.

It does sound like the Diamond is the one for you. The Markbass is much more versatile, but if you don't need strong compression, and if clarity is a key thing for you, then the Diamond is hard to beat. I wouldn't call the Markbass "muddy" or "unclear" at all, but it does have a slightly darker, softer quality in comparison to the Diamond.

You know, TBH I really need to buy another Demeter so I can have it always on hand for comparison. But as far as my memory and my notes tell me, the MB and the Demeter have fairly similar basic qualities, though of course the MB has a ton more control.

I'm sure you can find a way to get in some funksmanship with your girlfriend... ;)

Even better, I got an insane deal, $3 a ticket, I took her entire birthday entourage to the show... total hero. Totally scored some points on my Funkmanship that night!! Still have never missed a P-funk show in my area!

I like this compressore allot, I use my J-retro for switching eq settings (amp stays constant), the compressore allows me to find a subtle nice compression for my low mid fingerstyle setting and when I flip over to my hifi slap tone it clamps down on it nicely. I have it set so it doesn't do the weird initial volume dip unless I really slam it (Bongo explains the dip swell thing better). I see myself using the dip swell strategically in the future. I do hear a tad low mid warmth added by the compressor. This is great for recording into my interface, my main rig is an all tube head and my interface recordings lack that tubey warmth I get through my rig, the compressore helps add a bit of warmth but not so much I have to adjust my amps eq when using the comp. I think it handles my highs very well, in fact it encourages me to produce more of them. I mostly play finger style funk but have been enjoying much more slap lately due to this bad boy.

I got an F1 on the way for my new home/portable rig, excited to see the two Markbass' compliment each other.

I've tried the EHX black finger and Carl Martin Comp/lim, and eden on board comps. this is my favorite by far and the first I've enjoyed getting to know, the others frustrated or bored me. However, I am still awaiting a Bongo review of the Aguilar TLC... whenever that happens.
