markbass heads

I had the chance to try out a Markbass head the other day. Not sure of the model, twin-channel 600W beast.

Holy heck, loud and light! Quite impressive. EQ ain't quite as powerful or useable as my Eden's, but for the sheer size and weight of it i'm really tempted to get one and flick off the WT800 (horror!).

Anyone own/played one in a live situation? Thoughts/comments?

Hi,
I 've been using the HT503 (500 watts 4 ohm) for the last 2 years (or so). It's a good amp, I'm not saying great amp.
It works fine, is quite light (I think mine is 12kg) and sounds good in allmost every bandcontext.
But it's a bit too clean and "cold" to me, I use an Eden WT400 on smaller gigs and it sounds much better (to me).
Seems to cut through the band much better and I like the warmth of the WT.
The Markbass is quite good for players who like the SWR sound (IMO), but it just doesn't work that good for me.
I will definetly sell my HT503.
You play the WT800? So maybe you wanna exchange?

While I havent owned a MarkBass model amp, I owned two Ernie Ball MusicMan HD-500 (discontinued) amp, that were made by MarkBass. The HD-500 is a great sounding amp, with TONS of tones in it. Could go from pretty modern to old school easily.

Hi, If you mean two-channel you mean 500W Markbass LMK head? I've got this particular head for let's say 3 months and am very happy with that. Very versatile, I can have my both basses plugged and switch them with footswitch and do not have to mess EQ. I have plenty power to handle any gig I can ever encounter (we don't play large venues though) with my EBS NEO 112 and Epifany NY110 . Great tones, plenty of punch if needed and very lightweigh indeed, only 4 kilos or so. Strongly recomend!

I've got a first gen Little Mark. It's actually amazing, and the second gen models are even better (not to mention smaller!). Do it, do it, do it!
