Markbass Megathread PART 3

Well I went to GC in Danvers Mass (USA) yesterday intending to buy the F1. I hadn't tried either yet but the reviews were just to good. I had just gotten in a T21 RBI preamp and after 1 gig I knew it was going back. I tried both the LMII and the FI side by side first through the Mark Bass 2 x10 cab. I decided right there that like most people say I couldn't hear a $250 difference in the two. Thoough i wanted a single space amp, well so be it. Then I brought in my cabinet. A Dr Bass 2 x 12, light version I bought on ebay. It sounded very good and the sales staff were surprised to see a Dr. Bass cabinet come in. Anyway I then traded my hartke 2.5xl cabinet and left with the LMII. It sounds good at home but my next gig is two weeks away. Wish me luck. Chris P.

Wow...Hampton, NH huh? I'm from up that way....when to High School there. You're gonna dig that amp I assure you. Have fun!

I've been here for 5 years, I grew up in WestNewbury so close enough. I gig almost every weekend. Top40, some pop. Mostly GB. 5 peice band though our singer (female) plays keys, sax and flute so mit really adds to the sound. Chris P.

sorry if this is slightly off topic but..

im close to pulling the trigger on a LMII. i've played it at my local GC (sorry, don't remember the cab) and really liked it.

i currently use an Avatar b210 NEO, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with pairing a LMII with an Avatar (any Avatar, for that matter).

I have an Avatar NEO 210 and it sounds great with it. No worries.

Just played my LMII and Ampeg PR1528HE cab for the first time with my guitar player and it smoked! Just blows away the SVT3-Pro I had been using with that cab.

The guitard says "thats the sound I always wanted you to have!".

No ****, that's the sound I always wanted me to have, too!

As a side note, I can't believe how different my standard jazz sounds vs. my Sterling through that setup.

I got to test the new CL014 and CL106.
The 104 was great! Punchy, tight and with good lows. The horn has a on/off switch, so you can choose between a real vintage or a modern sound. So this cab can go from Jamerson to Marcus Miller. But it`s a sealed cab, so it has slightly less lowend than ,any front-ported cabs. No problem of handling a B-string though.
Extremly portable for a 410. I liked it alot, but ended up with the CL106 myself. Could not resist the more aggressive and even moren punchy tone of that cab.
The 104 sounds slightly more open, while the 106 is tighter and more aggressive in the mids(and louder..)
Both have a little more highend-sizzle than the MB HF/HR cabs.

I just picked up the Markbass CMD 102P and I have been running it alone for most small to mid-sized clubs. I just put it on top of my 410HLF for kicks and WOW!! :bassist: It really kicked ass! I mean it was clear, deep and pushed tons of air! It was in my livingroom, but I'm sure I will try this setup at my next mid-sized club. Just my 2 cents.

That's the transparent MB sound (or lack thereof) for you. That's the reason why I don't like TE or Ashdown etc anymore. IMO it doesn't matter what you plug into them, a Trace will always sound like a Trace, Ashdown sounds like Ashdown. Some people like the colouration, I don't. I have a bass (Warwick Thumb) that cost a lot of money and has a trademark voice. I want to hear that voice.

Then again, SVT's make a wonderful noise.

Then again again. I used to use the SVT II model on my V-amp for practice as it was the closest to 'my' sound. Now I use my LMII into the v-amp purely for cab simulation.

Math for cost/watt was cool. Adding them together was the problem.

In simplest terms, look at gas. Cost/gal doesn't vary by quantity.

sorry if someone else has already discussed this...wasn't in on the older MB megathreads...anyone use markbass with EA cabs? i have a couple of cxl110's and a 112 that i switch back and forth and wondering if anyone's got experience with a markbass head. thanks...
